I’m looking forward to home installation photos with this unit in place. The complexity of this processor, with all those channels appears that it could exceed the capabilities of some commercial theaters, at least from an electronics standpoint.....how many will take it that far at home will be most interesting to me. Don’t mean this in a BAD way, no not at all just curious as to how the niche market pans out. Bill And yet there are some for whom 16 is not enough, even 24 is questioned. I agree, that those taxing the capabilities of this unit will be few, I doubt I will, but I’m interested anyway.

They just need to have silver accents to match Gen1 gear. Who wants to sell me their 40% discount?

Not just so it matches, so it looks better and super classy. NOTE: Obviously using an XSP-1 here for the example photos. It's a good visual since the Gen 1 - Gen 2 layout is identical except for the silver parts. Gen 2 pics in next post.

Just not the same as polished aluminum my friend. Doesn't look nearly as good, won't hold up as well, and doing it after the fact would be a royal pain. Would you spray paint the wheels on a Lamborghini? I still stand by my idea. They already make the silver trim, and they assemble these by hand one by one in Tennessee. All they have to do is order 2 different color knobs, put on the right color with each order, and add an "S" sticker to the outside of each shipping carton. While the outside knob manufacturer is making them, switching from black anodized to silver clear (or maybe it's anodized also) simply can't cost that much. Heck, start small and see how it goes. Order 950 knobs black and 50 silver. Then judge from there.

I have to admit that the potential to expand beyond 13.3 is very appealing to me. Ear level speaker count of 9 is set in stone for my build, but instead of only 4 Top speakers (TF+TR), I would certainly add Top Middle (which I wired for anyway) and Front Height if I had the chance! 9.3.8, why not?

I have a 7.4.2 set up now using the Marantz AV7702 which I bought in Oct. of 2014. I have TF, and TR, now and have planned for TM speakers. My room is too narrow at 13' 4" for wides, so 13 speakers and 2 subs is probably my limit.

Oppo missed the boat on that one. Multi-channel USB support is a great addition and a product differentiator. Hopefully, the RMC-1 and XMC-2 will support multichannel DSD and PCM on the USB input to replace that functionality. - Rich

They sell the silver trim pieces for the XMC-1. If they don't fit the RMC-1, I'll bet they could be convinced to make them available. $20. Can't go wrong.

Yes, they sell the silver trim for the RMC-1 height, or at least they did last time I checked. So I'm really just pushing for a silver knob. I think that's something that has to come from the factory.

HDMI testing, new production DSP's, new software, production preparations, etc. With that in mind, are you serious? - Rich

I wouldn't expect the "S" version to be available at first. Get the thing running smoothly takes top priority. As I've stated before, even if I did buy one, I wouldn't do it for at least the first year probably. Getting bugs out and the expansion modules are high on my list first. Without those meeting my wants and needs, I won't be buying one at all.
