Recently I sent in my Sherbourn 8100 for repair and they ended sending me back a newly refurbished 8100. Things worked great for a little bit, but for the past few weeks a weird problem has cropped up where the receiver will always power itself down the first time I try to turn it on after it's been off a while. After it does this once, I can power it on and it works without any issues.
I've tried all sorts of things and the problem definitely seems isolated to the receiver. The issue persists even if I unplug everything from the receiver, whether or not I plug it directly into an outlet or surge protector. I made sure to disable all CEC options on my receiver and TV. Turning the TV on before/after turning the receiver on or even just leaving the TV off doesn't make a difference. The strange thing is once the receiver is on, I can turn it on/off without any issues UNLESS I wait an hour or more and then the unit is guaranteed to power down the first and only the first time I try to turn it on. I talked to support over the phone and they told me there was no fix and that I should just deal with it by turning the receiver on twice.

Reminds me of the joke that goes Doctor it hurts when I do that. Doctor says then don't do that. In your case they are telling you if it works when turned on twice then turn it on twice.

I had the same problem, it was a bad capacitor or the like. I sent it back to emotiva and they had it good as new in a week. Call emotiva.

Mine died after doing this for a couple years. If anyone has one doing this make sure you send it in before warranty expires!
