Stealth 8 monitors are on my short list of alternatives for a speaker purchase. I know about the 30 day trial but I'd like to hear them before I take the plunge.
Any owners in the SF Bay Area (Calif.) who like to show off their speakers?
Will Emotiva be demoing the Stealth 8s in this part of California this year?

The 30 day return privilege is for folks exactly like you. You IMO are making one possibly significant error. How the Stealth 8 sounds in some SF owner's place or in an Emo demo situation many times can be different in some important sound respects than it will eventually sound in your own room/studio with your own sound sources. That is true for all speakers as to the exact way they are placed in your listening environment. Perhaps you feel this would save you some possible return parcel shipping charges. I've read a number of very high percentage/highly positive pro and user reviews on the Stealth 8's. I would strongly consider the many great reviews at least to try the 30 day return privilege. emotiva.com/help/faqs/return-policy

Hi listener, Chuckienut is right on the marks here. The Stealth 8 is an incredible speaker. Having heard the Stealth 8 in great length, and also listening too my Stealth 6 speaker and for some time, they will impress many. Created with the Recording Studio in mind, the Stealth 8 is exceptional in its detail, smooth high end, and and clean midrange, and great bottom end.
Not knowing what environment or application, or associated equipment would be involved, I am being general in my opinion. However, the Stealth, and Airmotiv Speaker family integrate well in a wide variety of applications. I think for sure they are worth a listen. IMHO.

I have the 8's paired with a XSP-1 and a JL audio E-112 sub. I'll probably keep this setup for a long while. Hi rez recordings are superb.

esquire, Thanks for reporting your experience with Stealth 8s.
Vcautokid, I appreciate the information you provided. I intend to use Stealth 8s or something else in my main system. The current speakers are 3-way active speakers with external amps and crossover. After about 18 years with those speakers, I am simplifying.
ChuckieNut, while I appreciate your taking the time to reply, I did not find your post to be helpful. In my OP, I said that I was aware of the 30 day return. I understand the limitations of listening to speakers in a room other than my own but I also understand that I can learn some things about a speaker in such a situation. My experience goes back 50+ years and I understand the technical issues. You didn't bother to ask me, you just assumed that I needed your lecture.
I buy products online with the possibility of returning something that doesn't fit my needs. However, I do not like to rely on buying products just to try them out and then return them. Each of the alternatives that I am considering will be purchased online. I do not want to coordinate ordering 3 or more products, auditioning them and returning all but one. I want to do as much consumer research as I can before I buy anything. If I can listen to Stealth 8s, then I have more information to base a decision on. If not, I go with what I can find.
You appear to be dismissing my questions. You make it less likely that anyone else would answer my questions on this thread. You didn't do me any good and you didn't do Emotiva any good.
A potential customer should be able to ask straightforward questions about an Emotiva product on this forum without having those questions dismissed or having to defend his right to an answer.

Listener, I'm so sorry I obviously upset you. Unfortunately, I don't read minds and many first time posters have very little experience. I'm 72, two years older than you but have only 48 years audio/HT experience. This is a forum and you can expect members here to answer questions but sometimes also they will disagree with your comments. Perhaps in your thread you should qualify it as: Please, answer my specific question(s) only, no advise or lectures wanted (I already know everything else!)Many posters are not aware that what you hear in a dealer's showroom or owner's house might be a good way to narrow speakers down to a short list but the final buying decision is never prudent until you've heard it in your own room. I was only trying to help rather than giving a lecture. Many posters have preconceived notions and I was only trying to let you know that the 30 day trial IMO was something you might re-consider for a very legitimate reason. l know you are aware of the 30 day trial but don't think you understand why it is the only way to make the best final decision. If you were to go to a members house in the Sanctuary City (Home of Colin Kaeperdick) and don't like what you hear and then decide not to buy the Stealth 8's, then IMO you are most likely making a mistake. If you do like what you hear and do decide to buy the Stealth 8's, set them up but then don't like the sound in your system, then I guess you would go ahead and use the 30 day trial return, or would you turn it down as a matter of principal? I never suggested you simply buy various speaker online to check them out. I gave some brief info why I thought they were very highly regarded, although I could have gone on for pages. You in fact gave us zero info about your room, setup, intended use, previous speakers. It seems to me that your 50 years experience gave you less than perfect experience in how to buy speakers for your environment.
BTW, vcautokid posted: Chuckienut is right on the marks here. You did't seem to get upset about his very positive comments about my lecture, I'm cornfused. In fact, nobody answered your two questions about any owner's or an Emo demo. You must know I'm a minority and that's why you don't like me, shame on you! Oh, I forgot, nobody in SF will answer because of my post, good grief! Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!
Good luck on choosing a new speaker.

.......... Will somebody in the SF Bay area who owns the Emo Stealth 8's be willing to have new member listener over to their place so he can audition the speakers. (Be careful having a stranger over to your place! .... Be careful he is not an alien from the planet Uranus). .......... Listener, please call Emotiva at 1-877.366.8324, and ask about any possible demo's in that area. .......... Or can some Emo staff member let him no there are no planned demo's in that area. Maybe Emo has a dealer in that area?

Wow this is a tough room. I am not speaking for Emotiva at all, but my own experience. Whether or not that is of value is up to oneself's process. Offense is never my intent. There are I am sure others here who could reply with the correct solution.
