So I've been using my Airmotiv 4s for about 2 weeks now and I've been more than satisfied with them but they seem to suffer from a low level white noise or hiss from the tweeter and a buzz from the woofer part of it. I tried plugging it into different plugs with no effect. I also tried a line conditioner and surge protector with no luck.
I have a ultra silent pc which is basically fanless during idle so I notice it more then. Does anyone else have this same issue? I can only hear it from 1-2 feet away or closer. Anyone else have this "noise floor". I'm used to no noise floor when using my onkyo receiver for my ht. I don't get this problem from old computer speakers so don't see why a higher end pair of studios would have this issue.
Note: The noise is the same when there is 0 connections to the speaker. Just plugging it in will give the noise. It's not an issue of unbalanced or balanced inputs.
Noise does not increase or decrease at all with volume changes either.

One of mine did this and don't try to solve the problem. Just call them and they will send you a new one and you will send the bad one back.

You sure it's not normal? www.gearslutz.com/board/so-much-gear-so-little-time/917370-quietest-active-monitors-hiss-etc.htmlCan you try doing it with yours and just put your ear up to the tweeter/woofer 2-3 inches and see if it does. It seems to be from the amp. Passive speakers don't have the issue since the amp is separate from the speakers it seems. I'm thinking of lowering the hidden gain nob equally on both to see if it helps as they both have the same issue, which leads me to think it's not a bad unit but normal with these.

Call Emotiva and tell them your issue. That's all it takes.
No it is not normal for any hum from the Airmotiv powered monitors. They are dead quiet from all inputs. If you have not sorted out that if maybe you have a ground issue from an analog source, but if all is good elsewhere then the Airmotiv monitors have no hum or white noise from them, nohow.

I'll give them a call on monday. One speaker definitely is louder than the other in white noise. Tried the gain adjustment and reset it back to what it came to factory, none of it helped.

vmirjamali this is one of the good things about this company and there forum. This advice has been given out here more times by more folks than you can imagine. Works like a charm with this company. There is actually someone to talk to right here in the USA and they have an excellent track record of making good on anything they sale. All those who agree give it like.

I had the same thing but on a previous generation of Airmotiv. Emotiva repaired them promptly.

Wait what's your analog source? If it is an inbuilt sound card, that's your culprit.
