From the Shameless Market Research Division, here's a question for you Loungers: Which speakers do you currently own? Feel free to make a post with more details about your specific speaker setup. I'm looking specifically for information about which gear you currently own, in order to clarify the competitive landscape and gain information about who might be the dominant players, particularly among Emotiva fans. Thanks in advance for your participation. From being on this forum for a few years now, I can tell you, you left off a couple names that get lots of mention here. Magnepan & Tekton. There are a lot of 2 channel people here and Magnepan certainly excels at that. I've not heard Tekton myself so can't comment there. People also speak very highly of Revel and Focal.

ERT-8.3-(2) ERM-6.3-(1) ERD-1-(2) Make that two of us. I had the same setup for about 6 years. I tend to keep speakers about 5-6 years before I start wondering what is better/different. I still have 3 sets of Emotiva speakers - ERM-1's and XREF 4.1 monitors for zone II and of course the "I'll never sell those" ERD-1's.. Salk Song Towers for main L/R with a matching Selah 3 way center (WOW! Excellent dialog!).. I also have three DIY subs and one eD A5-350 w/15" driver and the original amp. I also have a pair of Philharmonic Affordable Accuracy Monitors. Like the Emotiva Reference series these play above their price class. If it isn't readily apparent I'm a big fan of internet direct products. You get what you pay for - and a little bit more. Rick Craig at Selah Audio takes a 'portrait' of each speaker they design & build. Timbre match is very good with the ST/Selah speakers. This one is mine: MKCC $995/each
Designed with Seas drivers and a Hiquphon tweeter to match a customer's existing floorstanding speakers.
This is a sealed speaker cabinet that plays down to ~55-60hz. I cut it off at 70hz and let the 3 subs do the heavy lifting. I no longer have an AVR or preamp processor. I use the Oppo 103 in preamp mode. With analog out it has volume control. Sounds every bit as good as any AVR/AVP I've owned - and I've had a passel of them!

Martin Logan Vistas for my mains & Martin Logan Stage for the center. Surrounds are TBA. I love them but the cost of replacement parts is insane. I need to replace the panel in one speaker but they only sell them in pairs...more than a little annoying.
Previously used Def Tech BP 7002's and CLR 2000. They were great, even my cat really liked them. The problem was that well.. my cat really liked them.

I use several bookshelf speakers in various rooms, some powered (Audio Engine & JBL), some passive (used to have the lovely ERM-1s but they were "stolen" from me by a friend who loves them so much that he refuses to return them.) In my main listening room (basement) I have a 2 channel setup in which I use DIY open baffle speakers consisting of a full range driver and two 12" bass drivers. A dbx Driverack 260 acts as an electronic xo for these. They are driven by an LPM-1 and the venerable IPS-1. Total bliss!

Magnepan MG 1.7 via Emotiva USP-1 and XPA-2, with an SVS SB12 NSD subwoofer and they sound amazing every time I listen to them - and I'm not even sure that I've got them completely dialed in yet!
The Maggies replaced a pair of Infinity SM 85's that I got from HK's outlet as closeouts for $120 / pr. that sounded awesome with the XPA-2. I still have them.
Those replaced a pair of Bose 901 series IV ( let the bashing begin!) that finally gave out after 18 years of blissfully ignorant enjoyment. For a short time between the 901's and the Infinity's, I had a pair of Bose 701's that were HORRIBLE in every way - sound, size, aesthetics; you name it, those were some fugly speakers! I gave them to my son to use with his shoot 'em up video games. Sorry about that kiddo.
The 901's replaced a pair of KLH Model 17's, a 1971 Christmas present to myself, along with a Pioneer SX-424 receiver and AR manual turntable, a system that kept me quite happy for a good ten years or so.
As it stands, I think I'm done. I believe the current rig will see me to the grave, save for minor adjustments- a new dac or pre or whatever affordable streaming device pops up in the next couple years.

Currently:
Main HT System:
Emotiva ERM-1 --- LCR (3ea) Emotiva ERD-1 --- surrounds (2ea) Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus --- sub
I have owned many nice sounding speakers over 48 years. This relatively small 5.1 set up from the original Emotiva Reference speakers is by far the best bang for the buck, period! These 4 ohm gems have very high quality and high power handling drivers. The ERM-1 is the exact same as the top part of the ERT-8.3 tower with the same exact tweeter and mid/upper bass and they roll off quickly below 80Hz to be mated with a top quality sub, THX standard. They were designed with help from the renowned speaker guru Vance Dickason. The soft dome tweeter is ultra smooth, clean and non-fatiguing, The boundary control is essential to keeping the upper bass/low mids ever so natural for vocals when close to the wall. They handle tons of power (300 watts plus - 4 ohms, from my XPA-5 on peaks) and blend so nicely below 80Hz to a very good sub. The ERD-1 dipole/bipole angled surround is the finest dedicated surround speaker ever made with a perfect timbre match with the ERM-1's, same tweeter and mid/bass drivers. The excellent priced, online direct sub from Outlaw Audio extends the low end down to slightly below 20Hz and can handle LFE output in my room.
Computer System:
Emotiva Airmotiv4 --- L&R Mirage Omni S8 --- sub
These are great powered monitors that are surprisingly flat down to about 50Hz, tested in my near field setup. They also sound great for general listening in the adjoining open area up to about 90dB's at 8 feet. I like very low and tight bass so I blended them with the Mirage sub thru the outs (XLR and RCA) on the XDA-2 Preamp/DAC. Using the controls on the sub and the Airmotiv4's I got a very nice frequency result down to about 30Hz (sub blends in at about 90Hz). Makes for an impressive full range sound.
