DirecTV won't add the XMC-1 to their remote database, so I currently have to use my XMC-1 remote for volume control. (and, no, I don't want a Harmony).
Does anybody know if the XMC-1 shares its IR VOL+ and VOL- codes with any other device - Emotiva or not?
Thanks

I doubt the XMC-1 shares it IR codes with any other processor/receiver brand. Gone are the days of the 1st gen Emotiva processors, DMC-1/DMR-1/MMC-1, which shared code sets with the Sunfire processors.

I know you don't want a Harmony. But...just get a Harmony. Really.

I know you don't want a Harmony. But...just get a Harmony. Really. Mark the Hub really makes the difference, The remote sends radio waves to the hub which doesnt need line of sight. You can connect the IR out of the hub to IR in of the XMC1 and you have zero interference. The activities on the remote can be programmed to change the vision and audio sources, change the preset etc. It really makes the whole process better. On downside you need to remember to charge it. But only having one remote that is customizable is well worth it. Have you had a bad experience in the past?

Take a look at the excellent Ray Remote. It has all the XMC codes, and I replaced a Harmony with it and prefer the Ray.

Yeah - really bad Harmony experiences about 5 years ago. Plus, I love my DirecTV remote - it's perfect for operating the DirecTV DVR>

Its easy to set up and works great, if not BB has a 15 day return policy! Longer if your an elite member. They regularly sell for $59.00 on sale. Highly recommend. The 650 is a middle of the road price with a high functionality quotient.

Agree too with BestBuy as a good way get one at a good price and have a return window.

Don't laugh 😂 at me please! When I replaced my Sunfire TG 2 with an XMC1, I used that original Sunfire remote and had it learn the commands from the brick that came from Emotiva. It's a little funky, as I'm unable to label all functions but it's close enough for jazz. Good enough for my purposes.....controls 8 devices including the volume on my Velodyne subwoofer 🔊 .
I should come out of the dark ages, suggestions welcome.

You can buy similar remotes so that you're not stuck hanging on to the Sunfire, but as noted above I'd still choose a Harmony for functionality, simplicity, and price.

A Harmony remote costs anywhere from $100 - $400. An XMC-1 with IR codes that exist for ANY other unit would cost me $0. Just use some old, old Sony codes

Just use some old, old Sony codes I know you don't want a Harmony (or any other remote), but as Nick mentioned a Harmony 650 right now is $60 at BestBuy. Wanting the codes to work with your DirectTV remote might be nice, but it's not going to happen, you need to consider solutions that will work.

Mel Hi Mel You are the salesman I've been looking for (lol) The Ray looks to be exactly the type I'm interested in. A full color screen to use in a pitch black room. I can see the harmony can get it done but the Ray is worth the extra cost. Anything else around to consider with a screen like that? Bill
