I am considering the T1's for my front three speakers in lieu of Goldenear Triton 3s. Two questions:
1) Can I buy three T1s? Since they are sold in pairs?
2) Are they a good timbre / sonic match for the Goldenear in wall MPX and in ceiling Invisa HTR 7000s that also use the AMT driver? Or is the implementation different enough to make them not a perfect match.

I have a 5.1 setup with GoldenEar Triton Ones downstairs and a 5.1 setup with Emotiva T1's upstairs. To be honest they sound really similar. The GoldenEars have the advantage in bass when I'm driving them in a 2.0 config, but when I'm running a subwoofer with both they sound very similar. I haven't paired the T1's with my GoldenEar surrounds, so can't comment on that. Can't say without hearing but I'd be surprised if they didn't match really well.

So would you say that, with a sub (in my case two Seaton subs), the Emotiva T1s give extremely similar or even the "same" performance as the much more expensive Triton ones?

I sure wish Emo/Jade would make a tower one tier up using AMT in an MTM d'appolito like the golden ear and perhaps even better giving the AMT a waveguide and time aligning it with the midwoofers. Use a simple 2nd order for low parts count xover as well as you don't need a steep slope with AMT. Somebody needs to build high sensitivity pro audio PA level home loudspeakers using the AMT tech in a waveguide to compete with Seaton and JTR. Hey Dan and friends! Perhaps you guys could get into the pro PA market with AMT eh? Outside of the inherent better ceiling/floor bounce properties of an MTM or lack thereof I'd say they'd be very close if that Emo/Jade midwoofer is as good. With those crazy subs it makes absolutely no sense to get the Golden Ears with their unusual active sub section in the cab. Absolutely no sense bro.

Yes I REALLY wish someone would make an affordable AMT like that. Alcons has some really interesting stuff, and the speakers are not priced badly, but they will ONLY sell you those speakers if you buy their horribly priced amps, so that is a non started. I asked Mark about making an AMT speaker that was like his Catalyst 12 except with the AMT in the middle in lieu of the coaxial mid and compression tweeter, and here was his response:
"I do like the AMT's, but the limited vertical is an issue for multi-row home theaters. This is also a rather huge difference in design philosophy as we cross the 8" coaxial to the woofers around 250Hz vs 1000-1500Hz for a design like this. That transition from the 80 deg wide horn to the drivers is still rather abrupt and makes for broad changes off axis that greatly interact with the room making them a bit trickier to get sounding good in a room."

One would think it best to prevent side wall bounce by limiting horizontal aperture to some degree. I also don't understand why the limited vertical aperture somehow effects multi-row theatres. The angle of incidence is never that great for it to have an effect in your typical HOME theatre. In pro PA world you want this property to specifically reach people in the back rows... Notice the Mundorf CDH88 horn has a 100 x 60 dispersion pattern? Notice it has circular notches in it for midwoofers top/bottom?

I'd really like to see the DIY Sound Group SEOS guys take their waveguide work/research and adapt it for use with an DIY AMT driver like the PE Dayton AMT2 or better yet a German made Adam factory Mundorf AMT.

Can't promise without hearing your setup (sorry). But comparing my T1's + Sub to the Triton Ones I have they are *extremely* close. I'd give the nod to the GoldenEars but that may just be because I know what I'm listening to. In a double-blind test (which I can't do obviously) I doubt I could call out which was which. You're certainly getting 90% of the sound for 20% of the price.
