Thinking about cutting the cable cord and getting a Roku 4. Is anyone using the Roku 4? Thoughts? Pros/Cons?

I have 3 Rokus, much faster than the Sharp 'smart tv'. Although mine are hard wired, they work fine wirelessly. Current interweb down speed is 300+ but they worked fine at 50mbps. Roku and attic antenna, cut the TV and phone about a year ago.

I use a Roku 2. I've been using it since Feb with no problems. I have it cabled to my router. I don't use the wireless. I've seen and read reports that the Roku 4 has overheating issues and a loud fan. The only difference between the 2 and 3 is the 3 will give you the remote with a headphone jack and voice search capability. If you don't need those features then get the 2.

As was just posted, Roku has new models available and best to choose one of them. The old model 3 was great but many found the 4 to be buggy. I own multiple Roku devices and the Roku 4 is the only one I returned as it was not stable. I suspect there will be many discounted model 3 and 4s available with the release of the new models - I would avoid the 4 at any price.

What apps will you need? Does the Roku fit the bill for you for cutting the cord?
Like mentioned the Roku 4 seemed to be buggy. The new ones just came out not sure on status/quality yet.
I have a roku 2 and roku 3. Once in a while they need to be rebooted. I run mine hardwired as they aren't consistent on wireless.

A few apps seem to crash/reboot my Roku 3 but, overall, I like their streamers. My favorite aspect of Roku products is their agnostic approach to content. While they do promote some content and providers, they are miles more neutral than most. I'm anticipating the new upper tier boxes to be incredibly responsive and, fingers crossed, stellar wireless.

I just bought the Roku Premiere+ and I will see how it goes. BB says I have 30 days to return it.

I've had mine for about 2 months and no issues. Used for HBO, Warner Instant, Netflix, Acorn and Plex not a single problem. Must add that I'm not using it for 4K content to clarify.

Though considerably more expensive, I'd get an nVidia Shield console with Android TV OS on it.
Android TV OS is a good reason to buy a Sharp or Sony TV IMHO.

I bought the shield and an extra controller so my son could stream his PC games to the big screen. Of course not long after he bought a non-NVidia graphics card so the Shield has been unused for months now.

Any consensus on the Premiere+ yet? I'm a few days into using the Premier+. Responsive video loading which, I assume, is from improved wifi capability and chip/memory. I'm also seeing an improvement in video fidelity. Sharpness, black levels and artifact reduction all seem to be better than on the 3. More after I use it another week or so.
