Assistance with Minidsp 2x4HD

Greetings everyone.

I'm trying to help a friend out with his Minidsp problems. My friend Jim may have asked this in other forums so apologies if you've seen this already but here is his problem.

"I purchased a minidsp 2x4HD and I can not get my laptop to recognize it, there is most likely a driver issue. I've attempted to work with the manufacturer in Hong Kong but they are useless.In some forums people have made suggestions but none worked. If there is anyone that is proficient in Win 7 environment that could volunteer to assist I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. I can not return the unit so I will have to put it up for sale, never used. Much Thanks."

Do you have the CORRECT 2X4HD plugin? Did you read the online helps about Windows Drivers? Does the MiniDSP appear in Device Manager? Does 'search for new hardware' find the Mini?
Windows needs a couple other things to make it work. AIR Framework or something like that? Make sure you have the latest.
Any Virus programs interferring with correct operation?

DIY AUDIO has a whole section of MiniDSP stuff. I'd ask THERE and you'll probably get some real good help.
