I'm sure this has been discussed, but I'm not finding an answer if there is one. I'm planning on calling Emotiva sometime today.
I'm using my wife's laptop to run Dirac Full. I don't have a laptop, I use an Ipad Pro at home.
She had Windows 7 and all worked well. The laptop has been upgraded to Windows 10. I decided to re-run Dirac on Saturday. Initially Dirac finds the XMC-1 on the network, no problem. When I click the Yes button for my XMC, the program says that there is an issue with Windows and will shut down and Windows will try and find a solution. The program shuts down, nothing happens. I went ahead and uninstalled/re-installed. That worked. It took me awhile to figure out how to shut off AGC and pick the correct microphone, but I muddled through. Ran through the program. Created the filter and saved. Yay!
However, when I go back in and open up Dirac again, it gives me the original error. I then have to uninstall/reinstall each and every time to get Dirac to work! I am not getting a message telling me that I have done this too many times or anything. It works, but what a pain in the *bleep*!
Does anyone know what I can do to correct this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I noticed when I went to Anniversary update on Windows 10. All my audio attributes became unstable. I sometimes have to reboot and all audio works. It is not a fix, but unfortunately a reality for me. I should never installed the Anniversary update on my computer. Maybe if you are running Anniversary update. You may have to reboot to run Dirac. Just my experience. Of course with configuration variations, your mileage may vary as well.

I've heard a few people with similar problems... and we don't have a definite or specific cause. HOWEVER, I suspect it has something to do with Windows Firewall or some other security program. Many security programs make "heuristic decisions" about both network and file access. (That's a nice way of saying that they block things that "seem suspicious" according to their best guess - whatever exactly that means to them.) We've run into situations where, for example, a firewall program asked for permission for a program to access the network. It then allowed the program to do so when instructed to do so, but, even though it was told to ALWAYS allow access, blocked the program next time around anyway. This sort of sounds like what's happening. If it was happening randomly, I would suspect some program update or program running was interfering... But this sounds more like something specifically tied to "running for the first time" vs "running for the second time" - which sounds security related. The first thing to try would be to disable Windows Firewall, and disable or get rid of whatever firewall or A/V program you're using. (Both are notorious for interfering with the proper operation of some other programs.) I'm sure this has been discussed, but I'm not finding an answer if there is one. If Keith's suggestion does not prove fruitful, then you are dealing with a permissions issue specific to Windows 10. The upgrade to Windows 10 is typically a Home Edition and not a Pro upgrade (hence it's free). The limitation is that the account created may not have administrator privileges from the get go; and you cannot simply create one anymore as a security measure. You also cannot change permissions and access via computer management as the the entire menu is missing from the list. What has to be done is to activate a hidden Administrator account via a command line prompt during a safe mode boot which in turn allows you to create a new account with full admin privileges. You can then copy your settings to the new account. How to do this is outlined on the web extensively and must be done judiciously to prevent a complete crash of Windows 10 and re-installation. Like I said, try what Keith suggests FIRST! Best of luck on the situation.

Ok, I turned off the windows firewall as well as the McAffee firewall and got the same error message, windows compatibility issue.
I then went into Windows troubleshooter, chose Dirac Live and asked the troubleshooter to fix it. It worked. I believe it chose backwards compatibility with Windows 8. I did not actually run the program, but the error message is gone. Too late tonight. I'll try after work tomorrow.
Very strange.

Used Dirac as an adminstrator on Win 10 64-bit and only had one crash when going back to change some settings in the application. Otherwise everything worked perfect.
