Has anyone had issues with using a headphone splitter to split the 12 volt trigger signal out from one output on an amp? I have one trigger out on one of my amps free that I would like to use to output to dual subwoofers and rather than purchasing another Emotiva trigger output module, I would like to run one cable from the amp trigger and then split it down the line to where the subs will be located so that each can be triggered on from that output when the amplifier turns on. I find that using a trigger out with a subwoofer is the only real, reliable way to get the sub to turn on and play at lower volumes even when set to auto mode as the LFE output from the amp is not necessarily enough to turn it on at lower volumes.

I use a splitter to trigger the XSP-1 and the XPA-5 from the UMC-200, but it's mono, not stereo like a headphone splitter.
Cheers Gary

There should be no problem using a splitter for your trigger. Trigger cables were designed to be mono rather than stereo and while most often stereo cables work just as well, there are occasions where stereo connectors don't work probably due to a jack design of some manufacturers. So if you already have a stereo cable it's worth a try but if you need to buy a cable for a trigger I'd buy a mono cable. Here's a 50 ft mono for $5.99 with free shipping www.markertek.com/product/tn-mm-50/tecnec-premium-mono-mini-to-mono-mini-audio-cable-50ft

Don't forget that these trigger circuits are fairly LOW CURRENT. That's why running a CHAIN is better than a splitter.

I just ordered that cable as well as a pair of 25 foot female-male extension cables that I can run to each sub.

In most cases this will work just fine. Here is the caveat. The output current on the triggers is limited to roughly 100mA. All of our gear uses optical isolator which only draw 2 to 3mA each. So splitting a line to turn on multiple pieces is not a problem. Now having said that, I have seen some companies that actually use relays on their trigger input line which by themselves can draw very close to the 100mA limit. So I don't know how your subs are built and can't say with absolute confidence that it will work, but i can say in most cases it won't be a problem. Lonnie
