Wondering if i can get away with the bookshelves if i already have a decent sub (SVS PB1000). I dont have the best receiver www.pioneerelectronics.ca/POCEN/Home/AV-Receivers/Pioneer+Receivers/VSX-524-K80W@8ohm 0.08% THD 2ch 140W@6ohm 1% THD 1ch The bookshelves have a more forgiving 8ohm rated It's for my basement imgur.com/qIsjapY T-shaped where the theater space is 12'x12-3" and opens up to the rest thats 28.5'x10' and 6.1 x 9ft Total area is about 3880 ft^3, but the home theater area is in a 12x12.5 area or about 1160ft^3 - so not that big Mmmm

I think you could be happy with the bookshelves, since the bass is handled by a subwoofer. It depends somewhat on the desired listening level.
If you get the bookshelves and find that they aren't enough, you could always step up to the towers later and move the bookshelves to the surround channels.
