Stupid question coming... can this preamp be used with another integrated amp? I would assume that using line outs on the emotiva to AUX in on the integrated would be the connection, but the source would be going through two preamp stages correct?

So, the only reason to use the first pre-amp would be if it has a connection that is not available on the 2nd pre-amp. Other than that, I can't think of a reason to use 2 pre-amps in your situation. Also, you would want to use the processor loop output to the integrated amp's AUX. Using the main output could damage your integrated amp.

^^^ Right, you want to use the Tape Out or Loop Out on the first preamp, then control the volume only on the integrated.

Nothing terribly bad happens But two preamps are redundant and they may both contribute to the sound. So what I would do is output on one preamp and control the volume with the other one.

Thanks guys for the insightful replies, I'm not going to go down this road for now. I've just read great things about the sound quality from this preamp and was curious if I could use it to replace my existing outboard DAC with this unit.

I wasn't too taken with the DAC though it was okay. But as an amp I had no issues with it.

The function of a "good" pre-amp is that it contributes nothing to the sound. If it is "contributing" it is coloring; which is always, any way you slice it, bad.
