Planning to the replace AV receiver with DAC+Amp for 2.1 setup in the living room. After much research I have narrowed my selection to Musical Fidelity V90DAC & BasX A300. DAC doesn't have volume control and I don't see on A300 either. Is there volume control available on A300? Does this come with remote control? If not can I program on Logitech Harmony? Please help.

Use your AV receiver volume control not the amplifier as it does not have its own volume control

The BasX A300 is strictly an amplifier without a volume control. Your configuration would require either a preamp or a passive volume control , Emotiva Control Freak, emotiva.com/products/electronics/control-freakThis product would need an XLR to RCA conversion cable. something like these two products.

No buddy. You want to use a DC-1 instead. It has a volume control, big hefty remote, and it's a very good DAC for the price. Depending on your speakers, you may be able to get by with a Mini-X to offset the price. It comes with a beastly headphone amp. However it won't bring down your house. Also of interest is a used XPA-200 or an XPA-100. There is a guy selling four XPA-100's on the emporium section. I would rather swing for that instead of the bas-x. Better build quality imo. You could convince him to sell you 2. Good pricing - about $500. Still has transferrable warranty on it. XPA-100 (one XPA-5 blade per amp plus one power supply per channel. Also...NO FAN needed due to hefty heatsinks.) (Remember you get two of these as they are monoblocks). vs Bas-x 300 (one blade (not an XPA-5) for two channels and less capacitance and one power supply for two channels. Has a fan)

I'm using the schiit sys preamp with audtek rca cables with my a300. Be aware that if you use any dac with a large power supply that it must be at least one foot away from the amp up or sideways. The amp will mess with the DACs sound processing badly. I'm using a combo of half meter and one meter audtek rca cables from parts express.
