Some questions for my fellow T1 owners. What are your thoughts about "burn-in", particularly in regard to the AMT tweeter? How critical is speaker placement? Why are there not more reviews? How does the T1 compare to similar offerings from Tekton, Monitor Audio, etc.?
I really value your experience and opinions, and would like to hear from you.

Hello Wharfrat,
Unlike most people, I did not notice much of a difference after a couple of months of break-in. Perhaps the AMT mellowed a little (I still find the treble a touch bright for my taste) As far as speaker placement goes, mine are about 8 feet apart, 2 feet from the back wall and 20 inches from the side walls. I do not have the luxury of placing them anywhere I want. If I did, chances are I would go as much as 10 feet apart. How do you find the LF compared to your last speakers? The reason I ask, is that I find them a tad laid back with the bass, however very accurate.
Don't get me wrong, I love these speakers, and given the right recording they really shine. Quite the speaker for the price. I would have gladly paid extra to get a nice wood finish, so for me the look is just OK. My previous speakers were MMGs so it is difficult to do a comparison because they are very completely different sounding speakers, both excellent in their own way.
How are you enjoying your T1s, any regrets?
Regards, Howie

Good thoughts, Howie. I agree, the bass is exactly as you described it. I like the T1"s, I'd like to learn more about them.

IMO, the thing which needs the MOST break in for a speaker are the crossover CAPS. They come 'unformed' and will take a few minutes to a few hours to form. After that? Some MINOR surround loosening, maybe. I dont' see the AMT needing any break-in at all since there is so little motion to ANY part of the system.

Rory did say that the AMT tweeter needs break-in. I didn't do much critical listening when I got it and let my family watch TV with them connected at modest volume. I don't find the tweeter bright at all, in fact its quite pleasing with no ear fatigue. I don't listen to music, just movies and streamed TV shows from Netflix etc.

How about each of you giving us a review of the speakers. I'm looking for some new speakers and was wondering what current owners thought about these..

How about each of you giving us a review of the speakers. I'm looking for some new speakers and was wondering what current owners thought about these.. I've posted my thoughts here on another thread. In summary, they work fine with a middle of the road receiver, they can be delicate as well as violent without losing any detail. Their highs are just perfect and not at all fatiguing and they have a very good low end. Bass is good enough that I don't have an urgency to buy a sub.

I just ordered the 5 channel bundle. I currently have Paradigm Model 11 Monitors that are about 6 or more years old but in great shape. Sound pretty good. Hoping the T1s will sound better but probably not a fair comparison since I paid almost twice the money for them as the T1s.
I have two sets of the the airmotiv 5 powered speakers and love how they sound so we will see ?
If the sound is not night and day better I will probably return them but at the price they are at just had to try them !
Will let you know my impressions sometimes this weekend as they are to be delivered tomorrow !
I do have a question, could they sound better because they are 4 ohms versus 8 ohms for my paradigms ? My XPA 2 will then be cranking out 500 watts versus 300 into 8 ohms.

You only need to break in a short time. Rory said the tweeter needs a little time to smooth out but just play as normal and they will sound great in no time.
Don't floor board any speaker when it is new. Enjoy any new speaker at normal listening levels and know what your doing if you push them. If speakers sounded bad because they need to be used for a long time before they sounded good then how the hell would that be good for business. Speaker break-in is an Old wives' tale if you ask me.
