I installed the USB driver for my XDA-2 Gen-1 DAC, following EMOTIVA's WEB instructions.
I did all what they've mentioned, then connected the USB cable from my PC to the XDA-2. The sound played really nice.
My problem is as follows: Every time my PC goes to sleep, or is turned off, the sound becomes muffled, incomprehensible, and static upon resuming PC work, and the static won't disappear until I unplug, then re plug the USB cable to either the PC or the XDA-2.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue, ? all inputs are appreciated.
Thanks

To be honest, that's a really weird problem. It's not that unusual for a computer to "forget" that the DAC is connected when it hibernates. However, DACs are almost always an all-or-nothing proposition. Either it plays, or it doesn't play at all, or the computer says it isn't even connected. Or, if there's some sort of hardware problem with the DAC itself which compromises the actual analog performance, then it has nothing to do with the computer, so it happens consistently. This is also the sort of thing that could be caused by some problem in your audio player software (although it would be pretty rare). If it only happens with one program, then this would seem like a distinct possibility; if it happens with different programs, then probably not. A few things to try: Try enabling and disabling the SRC (the bypass button on the remote). If that fixes it, then your XDA-2 has some sort of hardware problem, and will need to come in for service. If you haven't already, try a different USB cable (specifically a good commercial one two meters or shorter). A cable that's "borderline" can cause odd problems. Otherwise, if possible, try the XDA-2 on a different computer..... At this point it would help a lot to know for sure if the problem lies with the DAC or with something in the computer. I leave the Mac Mini on continuously but if I turn off the XDA-2 Gen 2, the Roon server software often has to be restarted to recognize the XDA.
I just leave the XDA-2 on continuously as well but hope Roon Labs eventually refines this.
