Has anyone else had any issue with hum or static coming from their XPR amps? I've recently noticed static and a pop when the amp turns on coming from the left channel. I disconnected all inputs and turned the amp on and the static and pop is still there. I switched the speaker cables and then the static and pop came out of the right speaker. I get the noise when the amp is plugged into my Furman Elite 20 pfi and when it's plugged directly into the wall. And it's on a dedicated 20 amp circuit. Since I get the noise when no inputs are plugged in, I have to assume the issue is with the amp. I plugged my mains into my XPR5 and I have no noise and no pop.
Any thought or ideas? Dreading the thought of sending the amp in for repair. That would be my second XPR amp that had to go in. XPR 5 went in last year.

If you changed the speaker cables and the hum/pop went to the opposite channel (was on the left, then on the right), then it's likely something with the speaker cables you're using. Try removing both speaker cables and see if it goes away.

Same speaker cables hooked up to my XPR5 don't produce the hum/static or pop.

Sounds like a dying OUTPUT device. If you have any cold-stuff in a can, with the little straw to direct it, you MIGHT try a GENTLE spritz on each output device ONE-AT-A-TIME until you hear a result. That's the BAD transistor.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, take it to a TECH. Demo the problem. Ask if Diagnosis expense is deducted from the FINAL BILL if you proceed with repair. Mentally set an UPPER limit to what you are willing to spend.
Before anything else, swap SPEAKER cables between sides. you MIGHT have a bad connection which you'll fix by so exercising it. Check at the SPEAKERS, too, and swap there THAN at the amp.
Take notes.

I got an RMA number and am sending the amp back to Emotiva. Will post back when I find out what the issue was

I for one, would like to know.
If under warranty, do not EVER crack the case.

I know its a old thread, but what did emotiva say and what was the problem? We'll never know, especially if the fix was something silly or an embarrassment to the OP. I hate that, too. People post help and than the whole thing vanishes into an electronic haze.
