I finally got the chance to hear the best of emotiva gear. Thanks to the owner at summit hifi who let me demo the gear. This combination is absolutely amazing. I can't believe what I was missing all this time.
The sound is so clean. So pure. There was no hint of harshness whatsoever. Concerts sounded like live music. Spotify was incredible. So was youtube.
Didn't get to test out hdtracks due to my laptop missing drivers.
I was going to get the airmotiv bookshelf. But the tower was just too good.
I don't understand why the xsp in the chain will improve the sound. But whatever works is fine by me.
I've mostly had budget emo gear. So this was different. I thought I was done with audio gear. Boy was I wrong.
This setup will be my end goal. Sans the nuprime. And with the stealth dac instead.
Any questions?

Did you forget about the XMC-1 I bought from you I had the XSP-1 Gen1 when I took the XMC-1 off your hands and I could tell zero difference between the two, if I remeber correctly you never used Dirac though, but I do remember the first time I hooked up the XSP-1 and I was like wow the background in music was just silent, the XSP-1 for it's price is a really nice preamp IMO, so are you on a trip out east I take it. Nope. Didn't forget it. my system was xmc1 with stealth 6. But this combo I demoed was so much better. The airmotiv tower along with xsp probably made a significant difference.

I really loved my Stealth 6 as well but for HT use they didn't have the sound I was missing from a nice set of towers, I say yes to the XSP-1 for sure especially on sale, don't you still have Airmotiv's for sale ?

Actually I recommend doing it without the XSP-1. Which goes against my previous reccomendations when I did reccomend for it. With the bigger boy XPA amps like the 2 and the 1, it sounds a little clearer without it. (Unless you find different, of course).

Things felt more solid, volume scaled better. With the bigger amps, I found the DC-1 sounded clearer. At that point, the bass sounded more muddy with the XSP-1 and a little bit of detail up top was lost. However, there was more bass. It still sounded great though. I reccomend if possible to try both ways.

Yeah I should go for the xsp first. The XSP-1 is the best bang for the buck in the fully balanced preamplifer world. If your speakers are very resolving i will go for an audio gd preamp. My personal experience
