My UMC-1 is dying a slow death and it is a confirmed hardware issue. 2/3 of the time it is used for movies. 1/3 is for music.
I have a 1080p TV in my theater room (a square room) with no plan to upgrade to 4k as my internet connection is too slow to stream 4k content and I don't want to upgrade to 4k blu-ray or 4k tv until things are clearer on that front.
My setup is : Paradigm Studio 5.1 setup and a UPA-7 the two extra channels go to my outdoor speakers. My UMC-1 2nd zone is setup for my outdoor speakers
I have two 40% off Emotiva cards
Should I just get the UMC-1 repaired or buy a MC-700 or buy a XMC-1 . Looking for recommendations, is the XMC-1 that much better?
Taking the 40% off the MC-700 would bump it down to $300. <--Zero wife guilt here.
Taking the 40% off the XMC-1 would bump it down to $1020 on the ORIGINAL 1.4B HDMI VERSION OF THE XMC-1. <-- I would have hours of fun tinkering with this one.
Just looking for advice and thoughts.

Since 1080p is a reality for a while, maybe hold onto the discount cards and grab a UMC-200.

The 40% discount is based off the retail price not the sale price.

You can only take 40% of the retail price not the sale price You could get it for $1499 though which is a really good price, I owned one and loved it and Dirac full was a blast to play with and sounded really really good IMO, there's always gonna be a "next" processor on the horizon so the choice is to wait or enjoy now Chad
