Can anyone suggest a place to send the XMC 1 mic off to be calibrated and any ideas on cost of having that done?

Hi Jeffery, Your microphone cannot be calibrated.
We build the measurement microphones here in Franklin. We purchase specially graded electret capsules from the manufacturer and then assemble the units.
After assembly the units are tested against our reference curve for accuracy and self noise.
They do not typically drift or change. However, if dropped, this can mess them up.
If you feel your microphone is not working correctly, you can send it in for a check up. Just call in and ask for an RMA. Cheers, Big Dan

Cheers, Big Dan Mine is working just fine, but I had read there are places to send mics to that will create a unique and very accurate mic file specific to ones own mic. I had also read the included mic file was not accurate? is this mis-information?

Speaking of mic calibration. Is there a calibration file available for the XMC-1 mic that can be loaded into the REW?

Can anyone suggest a place to send the XMC 1 mic off to be calibrated and any ideas on cost of having that done? Cross Spectrum Labs sells mics with their own unique calibration curves for around $100. I believe they will also measure other mics and provide you a calibration curve for it, but I don't know the fee. And, you can use the curve with Dirac full or REW. Some don't seem concerned about having a batch calibrated curve, but I have seen data shared on Home Theater Shack showing how much variation there can be from mic to mic, even for good mics. So, if one is spending the $ and effort for an XMC and to do measurements, the small fee of knowing I have "the" curve for "my" mic is, IMHO, worth it. Mark

There doesn't seem to be any info on pricing for that on their site. I agree with you with the system I have now I'm looking for accuracy. I would have gladly paid a little extra to have a mic specific calibration file at the time purchase. Perhaps Emotiva can offer this in the future.

There is already a mic calibration file loaded into Emotiva's Dirac live tool to accommodate our microphone. If you decide to upgrade to the full version of Dirac Live, you have the option of loading other brands of measurement mic. calibration files. We do not be offer microphone specific files with our measurement mic. If your measurement needs are that critical, you should consider purchasing a third party measurement microphone.

Yep I already upgraded to the full version which is why I was looking to get the best accuracy within my budget. I will check the price of sending mine off vs getting a different mic. However, the included mic looks to be very good quality.

My EMM mic never worked correctly ever since receiving the XMC. Always had weird results on the centre and rears. Has that issue been resolved?
