Hello, Just ordered the new A-100 Basx. It arrived yesterday. I like the sound of it, but my speakers are the Wharfedale Denton 80th Anniversary speakers, so without tone controls they are sounding a bit lean. I am considering adding a sub woofer such as the Polk Audio PSW10. Can the A-100 be connected to the sub via the line out? Thanks for the help!

Only if you plan on setting the A-100 at a specified level and controlling volume before your signal reaches the A-100. This amp has a line-out. What comes in is what comes out. This means if you are using the knob to control volume, the sub volume will not be affected.

Before you jump to any conclusions you need to let your capacitors recharge and reform. Break in your amp for a week before drawing any conclusions. What is your speaker (86 db, 89db etc.)sensitivity. I just purchased the a300 and bought a passive schiit preamp for $60. If you need more power return your a100 and get the a300.

Bit inexperienced w subs here...not 100% sure what you mean w "controlling volume before your signal reaches the A-100." Sounds like what you are saying is it isn't an ideal setup.

If you change the volume on your a100 you will have to change the volume on your sub each and every time. The pass though is just that...the volume will not change at all with the integrated preamp on the a100.

Basically, if you are feeding a full signal to your A-100 and adjusting the volume of your speakers through the volume knob, your subwoofer will just be playing at full blast the entire time because the volume knob has no effect on it, only the RCA INPUT.

I hear you about giving it time. I have been using a Pioneer Elite A20 integrated for about two years. Nice little amp, but had to crank the bass up to 2 o'clock to get a full sound. I think you are right that I am hearing a pure signal now and am not used to it. The Dentons go down to 44Hz, so they should be OK by themselves. Again, I've never owned a sub before, but without the bass boost (tone control) I'm feeling a bit bass shy over here and thought perhaps a sub would be the answer (instead of tone controls).

Well ugh and no thanks to that then... ;-)

Well, despite the discouragement, I went forward w the Polk Audio PSW10 subwoofer running off of the A-100 Basx loop out line output. Controlling the sub is very easy and I really only want a little bit of bass to fill in the sound. Holy moley does this do the trick! With the A-100 being clear and crisp, this combo sounds freaking awesome! By far the best sound I have ever had in my house and not that difficult to manage. Highly recommend this little trick. Happy camper over here... I finally have a system w no tone controls at all! Yeah!
