Has anybody integrated Amazon Alexa / Echo Dot and a Harmony Hub together to control HT and other appliances (lights etc.)??
Just watched HT Geeks, interesting.

Yes, it works rather well... especially when you can't find the remote control. lol

Yes I can attest to that.
Main thing is remembering the verbal commands, it does get easier as you get used to it.

I found it easier if you name your Harmony activities to something simple like TV. So you simply say, Alexa turn on / off TV... the Harmony activity does the rest.

I got an Echo Dot for Christmas and I picked up a Harmony Hub. I have just three activites working (it takes time), Watch TV, Watch Big Screen, and Watch FireTV. I have not integrated lights, I just use directly Alexa controlled Smart power plugs for the three lamps in the room. The only thing I don't like is the extra verbage 'Alexa, tell Harmony to ... '!

The extra verbiage is one of the current limitations of current voice control, but will be changing with time. It also isn't limited to just Harmony, but other control systems as well. The next few years are going to get interesting with voice control as wearables and other products like the Amazon Echo Dot become more popular.

Actually, the updated Logitech release has removed the extra verbiage for many operations. support.myharmony.com/en-us/harmony-experience-with-amazon-alexaI haven't tried Logitech's stuff since I had already integrated everything myself through the Echo APIs before they released. There are two different APIs and the newer one (smart home skill) has a fairly limited set of operations, but doesn't require a skill name. -tm
