I couldn't help but notice the double channel "Blades" RCA inputs are not chassis mounted like the single channel 'Blades". I own a XPA-5 Gen1. the RCA inputs have become loose over time. I was happy to see the Gen2 fixed this issue. It might present a problem down the road for users like me who are constantly switching my equipment around. I can't figure out what you are talking about. As I look at the pix, it looks like the rca inputs are on the blades on all options...none are chassis mounted. Where are you seeing a difference? Also, I can't imagine where they are mounted making a difference in whether they get loose over time or not. That seems a matter of screw size and torque use in assembly...not "where" they are mounted. Please elaborate... Mark The single channel modules have a threaded nut to hold the RCA jack through the sheet metal. So you'd either need to cut the metal or shear off the threads to get the jack loose. If you try to bend the jack - you'd have to bend the metal as well. Not indestructible - but quite rigid. The double channel has a jack that's pushed against the metal backplate... somehow. Either on a small pcb that's attached by screws -- or on some bigger complicated pcb that might allow the jack to flex (I would guess by flexing the metal standoffs or solder joints) I damaged a RCA jack on my XPA-1 because it was attached to a board -and not the backplate. I believe the XPR have a threaded RCA jack like the single channel modules. I don't think chassis is the right word. Only modules attach to the chassis...

I believe the XPR have a threaded RCA jack like the single channel modules. I don't think chassis is the right word. Only modules attach to the chassis. It appears to me that the RCA plugs with nuts are on separate panels (note the screw fixings), which most likely would be removed together with their respective circuit boards. Those RCA plugs with nuts that are not affixed to separate panels are most likely not attached to the circuit boards hence can be removed separately. And/or can be removed at the same time as their respective board. In general Gen 3 amps are designed to be modular and hence upgradeable (or downgradeable if one should wish to do so) and have to be assembled (and disassembled) efficiently. Personally I have not had an issue servicing any Emotiva product and I have done quite a few, as a result I believe that the appropriate fixings have been used according to the internals requirements. Happy New Year Gary

The only reason it's different is because you can't fit 2 nut mounted jacks on the narrow card. You wouldn't be able to tighten or remove the nuts.
That's all.
But it's a prototype - so who knows.
It has nothing to do with modularity. Both are on the removable card. I can't imagine there are many reasons you'd need to remove that back plate off a module anyway, even if you were servicing it.
On a fixed amp - it's just an extra nut to remove. That's all.
Edit: I always thought that back plate was part of a modular card, essentially. Is it totally separate??
Also, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Maybe I'm not interpreting your questions correctly. The picture of the monoblock Gen 3 shows the RCA plug on a separate panel which could be removed with the board and/or separately. Similarly the speaker output terminals are also on separate panels, the + sharing the panel with the RCA input and the XLR input. The - is on a separate panel of its own. This appears to be an easily serviceable option, more efficient than having the plugs mounted onto the main chassis. Happy New Year Gary

Does anyone know what the efficiency of the Gen 3 amps is? I can't find any specifications relating to efficiency other than statements to the effect that they're more efficient.

JimAh, now I see it! Nuts ALWAYS explains things better....right @tllfkacn? But I am confused...I always thought Almond Joy's got nuts, Mounds don't. Now, amp blades do and don't...what is the world coming to... Mark

I am curious how the SMPS A/B amp compares in efficiency to the SMPS Class D amps which all seem to claim 75%- 85% efficiency.

I wouldn't mind a setup that included 3 big monoblocks and one stereo for a great 5 channel setup.

And, finally, the IMPORTANT question - When can we pre-order the double-wide monoblocks?
