Is this normal ? I'm not sure many of these are out in the wild... I tried it on two different systems with same result. It's not a loud pop but it is still annoying.. Thanks

What sequence are you turning the set up in? If the sub is last then try it first, if it is first then try it last.

Thanks Having just today ordered an Airmotiv S12 I am curious here too, and will report if I have anything similar once I have it in place. So, to be clear, are you saying your S10 normally just sits there quiet as a mouse until it actually receives some audio, at which point it starts out with a mild pop - every single time it receives input? I.e., multiple times once the system is fully on, if no input is received by the sub, then each new time it receives input it starts with a pop? Or is it just the first time? Also are you using "auto" mode to start up when it detects input, or manual on?

I have had this before on my Yamaha subs. try plugging it into a different outlet or power bar. See if it happens with the rca cable disconnected. Are you using a trigger wire or is it on an auto setting to turn on when it senses an input.

In the Airmotiv subwoofer amps, the high current power supply and the power section of the amp are powered off while the unit is in standby, to conserve energy. That means that the amp needs to power up when the unit receives a signal while in 'auto' mode. There might be a small turn-on thump (shouldn't be terribly loud), and you will hear relays click inside the unit. If you think your unit is exhibiting non-typical behavior, please contact our tech support. We will work with you directly to troubleshoot your unit and decide whether service might be needed.
Thanks,

Thanks for the responses.. I can't say I'm happy with the thump considering my other subs do not do it... It also hums - you can hear it up to about 4 feet which adds to the nuisance. It hums at the same level with or without anything connected. I tried multiple locations and even tried a two prong plug with no change...
Rory - I contacted customer support yesterday and Grayson took my info and promised to track down someone to assist. Hopefully this is not typical of the new Airmotiv subs....

I was thinking ground loop hum until you said 2 prong plug and when there is no input connected.... Something sounds wrong to me. Shouldn't hum audibly when idle.

If you feel your subwoofer is exhibiting behavior that is not typical, please contact our tech support. Send an email to support@emotiva.com and we can discuss further.
I am closing this thread because support issues should be brought to us through typical support channels, and we are more than happy to handle them on an individual basis.
