I can really see what Emo is up against. There is just no way to make it cost effective to make a processor upgradeable. By the time a new standard is ratified and the designer implements that standard someone , somewhere is working on the next standard that screws over the manufacturer. The sad part is we are conditioned to want the latest greatest bestest thing and we keep the whole mad circle going round and round. How can we expect these small companies to keep abreast of these new technologies, its madness I tell you , madness. Emo got the 2.0 card in the works and by the time they get that to market were at 2.0b and I see talks of 2.1 already. I hope Dan doesn't end up sitting on to many 2.0 card as I suspect most of us will be going for the soon to come 2.0b . I think Dan and company deserve our utmost respect for even trying to keep us poor souls current.
Thanks Dan , we love you.

It is crazy the millions of dollars companies have to spend to stay current with the industry's insecurity. Who can forget when VCR's were thought to destroy Hollywood when you record all your favorite shows, and watch them again, and again anytime? Hollywood made serious money on it. Now we have copy protection and everything else to make an otherwise simple Broadcast simple. It is far from that with HDMI and HDCP all else. What is a company and we have in store beyond HDMI x.xx, and HDCP x.x? Hollywood and the media holders grow up, and stop already.

Hybrid log-gamma is a broadcasting standard and shouldn't affect prepros, only television receivers. The next big change in A/V interconnection will probably be abandonment of the HDMI altogether.

Abandonment of HDMI could possibly come soon enough. Just focusing on the bad connector makes you want to shoot everyone involved in the effort. And then this complete inability to define an data communications extensible standard. The standards bodies are obviously staffed with morons.

Agree on the extreme difficulty designers and manufacturers face. I believe the HDMI race drive Parasound out of the processor game which is a shame.
