Seems a very different type of speaker. I have no doubt it's going to BRING IT!!! Other than the tweeter, how so? Mainly the tweeter was what stood out for me.

The Airmotiv T2 speaker... Styling of the new models is consistent with the rest of the Airmotiv range, so no wood finishes, but they still look distinctive and quite nice. I had suggested in another post that in lieu of the possibility of getting wood finishes, admittedly a fairly expensive complication to production, that to allow for a somewhat less all-black-imposing-batmobile tower-in-your-face (well, man-cave ) kind of look, Emo could offer as a more cost-effective option different magnetic grills. Like, a stately elegant l-med gray grill over the front would make them look far less imposing, lightening them. Offering separate grills has no engineering effect on the speakers themselves, and should be "relatively inexpensive" - you would have to factor in how much they might sell or get stuck with if they don't sell. BTW, having such two-tone looks would also be "distinctive". Maybe an Emo-blue grill over black would be apropos (well, as long as it didn't glare at you ). In any case, I'm suggesting this as an (added cost) option, not as a requirement for all units.

My question is what is Emotiva's typical turnaround time from CES to their website? Is it within a few months or more towards the later half of the year that we expect to see the new lineup for sale?

My question is what is Emotiva's typical turnaround time from CES to their website? Is it within a few months or more towards the later half of the year that we expect to see the new lineup for sale? Depends. Certain products we take to CES are sometimes already in house or en route to HQ. Other stuff we have are preproduction or concept models.

Well that's hard to say. Lately it's been reasonably quick for some, longer for others. Was it six months or so? But in the past when they announced gear it could take years and years. Let's just say "coming soon" became an infamous word! Now it seems like Emotiva is announcing things a bit closer to its actual release. However, if I were you, I wouldn't count on anything till it's actually on the website and ready for order.

Some notes: The Airmotiv T2 speaker is the larger brother to the T1, with dual 8" woofers instead of dual 6" woofers. The same 5.25" midrange and Airmotiv folded ribbon tweeter from the T1 are also used, but the sensitivity is increased. These speakers will produce incredible amounts of clean output, and slightly deeper bass than the T1 speaker, while being timbre matched to all other Airmotiv models. The Airmotiv C2 is the center channel companion to the T2. It moves from dual 5-1/4" woofers to dual 6-1/2" woofers, and the cabinet is now vented to provide better bass extension than the C1. Also, the C2 uses dual 3-1/2" midrange drivers, instead of the single 3-1/2" midrange used in the C1. The Airmotiv E2 addresses the need for a larger, more powerful surround effects speaker, with a switchable bipole/dipole design and a 5-1/4" woofer similar to the B1 bookshelf, plus dual 32mm AMTs in a dipole/bipole configuration on angled baffles. A wall-mount bracket and hardware are included. These new models were partly inspired by the new Airmotiv S15 subwoofer, which provides clean, flat output to 20 Hz in a free field environment (and it will reach even deeper in-room). The entire point of these new models is playing loud and clean, and taking the full brunt of an XPA Gen 3 amplifier without complaining while delivering sound worthy of a statement home theater. The units on display at CES are prototypes; they will get some more fine tuning before they go to production later in the year, but already they ain't bad. Styling of the new models is consistent with the rest of the Airmotiv range, so no wood finishes, but they still look distinctive and quite nice. I chose the dual-8" format of the T2 tower over the rumored dual-10" 'T10' design because the dual-8" platform tends to be a better value and has an easier time delivering good bass extension from a reasonably sized cabinet (that is, without looking like the old KLH-branded monster speakers Best Buy used to carry in the 90's). Then the C2 model is intended to perform like a T1 tower turned on its side, and they are roughly the same size. The smaller models will continue to be available, so we will have the right value product offering for home theaters big and not-so-big. Any comment on how the T2 and C2 would work with stealth 8's and 6's? I have a pair of 8's and 6's, and am curious how they would fair as surrounds/rears with a pair of T2s as front and a C2 for center. Thanks. You have to keep in mind that pro speakers (especially near field speakers like the stealths) require a lot more tuning in the listening room than consumer speakers. The stealths tend to be more neutral out of the box. That being said, the timber match would be quite close as well as DIRAC should provide you with the appropriate correction curves to make them blend nicely. Just watch the gain on the stealths when doing room EQ to avoid clipping once DIRAC has done its' magic.

I cannot wait to hear the T2. The Big Airmotiv. What else do you need? Well, 4 of them of course. 2 for each of my favorite listening room. Oh yeah. Dr. Rory will make them sound great, that is for certain. I want to hear the T1 too. The to do list keeps getting longer.

Any new information on the upcoming Airmotiv T2 towers, C2 center and the E2 surrounds? I saw an estimate of "a few weeks" for taking preorders back during CES 2017.

Having had GoldenEar Triton 2's since it first came out, I'm a huge fan of the AMT tweeter. I was thinking of upgrading my home theater speakers to GE, but happened on Airmotiv line also with AMT tweeters. I hope the newly announced speakers hit the market soon. It looks like I could save major money going with the Airmotiv line; about 65% by my preliminary calculations.

Does anyone know when the T2 will be available? This model has been discontinued! Just so it's carefully spelled out, the above post was meant as a joke. The T2s are very much on the way, pending minor woofer and crossover tweaks.

@roryb , An hints as to if the voicing on the C2 and T2 will allow them to blend with the T1 used as surrounds, or better to keep all x1 or all x2 and go with B1/2 or E1/2 for surrounds? Any status updates on the x2 series?

I'm waiting for the dual 12" woofers version. I'm waiting for EMO to come out with either a statement set of horns of baffleless speakers either with field coils - like von langa's audio frame-x www.wolfvonlanga.com/illusonic/audio-frame/You will both be waiting a very long time. FYI - the T2, C2, and E2 speakers have left the factory on their way to us. Give maybe a couple months for ocean shipment to do its thing. In the mean time, we will eventually have a pre-order page up for both models.
