So last week I turned on my 7702 and it said there was a firmware update, so i started the update and it said failed, so I tried another way of formatting a 32gb USB stick to Fat32 and downloading and copying over the appropriate files over to the USB and trying it from the front panel, my 7702 is now not even responding other than turning on with no video output or sound processing, I have tried all the resets of holding down the appropriate buttons while plugging in but it won't even do a factory reset. I spent a few hours with online chat and everything he had me try nothing came of it, he said he would escalate it and someone would contact me within 24 - 48 business hours, this was last Saturday and still haven't heard back, I have no music or movies and I'm getting depressed and this really blows as I did want another XMC-1 but didn't have the funds to be able to get one up here in Canada. Does anyone have any experience of this with their Marantz 7702, I will try contacting them again but just thought I would ask if anyone had any ideas, I searched for older firmware but can't find anything It's almost as if the firmware has completely disappeared ? Sorry to hear about the issue...it sounds like you have taken the steps I would take. Given you already talked to their support and they are late getting back to you, I would be calling them back and demanding to have some follow-up.

Mark Yeah man, I think that's about all anyone can do. Sure is frustrating to have your movies/tunes down for any period of time though. Wish you were nearby so I could send you a loaner until you got back up and running. Keep us posted Chad. Scott

Bit of a long shot, but you could try using a different USB device? One that is < 32 gigs, windows doesn't like formatting fat32 on removable devices that are 32+ gigs. Just pick a small one, like 8. Wouldn't surprise me if the marantz doesn't like that drive. Then just format it using the standard windows utility: www.wikihow.com/Format-a-Flash-Drive

If a Marantz (or Denon) locks up via a firmware update there is a good chance that it may need to be sent into a service center to be reset or flashed. If it locks up and you pull the plug on it and it boots up you may be able to update the firmware, but you won't know until you try unfortunately. When you originally tried to update the firmware I assume it was via network. Was it via Wi-fi or hard wired? For others reading this it is typically not recommended to update firmware via Wi-fi.

So far as mentioned above I have tried smaller USB and I use the Ethernet connection and not the wireless and I have posted at AVS with nothing that has helped so far, I'm guessing I will have to send it in, I guess I should have just kept the 7020 grrrrr.
Thanks for the help so far, I really appreciate the posts so far

Did you purchase the unit new from a dealer or private party? If from a dealer they should have Marantz support that they can get in touch with.

From Audigon second hand, reputable seller but still second hand, one thing that frustrates me is the firmware udate was strictly for Aura 3D which I won't use anyhow, if I would have realized this I wouldn't have even done it in the first place

I found this on the Marantz UK website: marantz-uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3833/~/update-%2F-upgrade-via-network-aborted-or-incompleteYou may have probably tried already the method suggested for the AV7702. However there is this interesting note: "If a firmware update can still not be carried out via the network, in most cases it is possible to perform it manually using USB stick (available for non Auro upgraded models only): The firmware including instructions can be downloaded here." Not sure if it has to be interpreted as saying that a USB stick can only be used for non Auro upgrades.

Dang Chad, that sucks. I hope you get things squared away. I think some of these processors are outsmarting themselves.

Unplug the unit for 30 seconds. Press and hold the MOVIE/MUSIC buttons and plug the unit back in. Hold the buttons until the screen flashes. If the unit doesn't power on while plugging it back in, press the Standby/Power button while continuing to hold the MUSIC/MOVIE buttons until the screen flashes. If this doesn't work, it will need to take a trip to a service center.

Done all these things as well lol, I'm trying for the 20th time again with a 1gb USB stick but it hasn't worked with a multiple of sizes, I need to get in contact with Marantz again. Chad

Hang in there. I feel your pain, my 8801 wouldn't work on any digital stuff. It needed a new chip from Marantz, $400 and 4 weeks later it's all good, back in the saddle.

Chad I'm not sure what else they expect to tell you, especially via email that they couldn't go through with you over the phone. I would just reach out to a service center and get a ticket created. They will likely need the original invoice if you have the ability to track that down.

Yeah who knows, I was hoping they could send me the previous firmware to try, I could message the guy I bought it from to see if he has the invoice to send me but it could be out of warranty, I'm not sure when the 7702 was released ?
