Has anyone done it? I use my XDA-2 in the living room to listen to music. A gift card from my brother, and it would be easy to switch in a Big Ego, I am just wondering if the move would be forward or lateral. Any thoughts? Anyone done that very switch?

It really depends on your expectatiins. Also your digital component compliment. If your are currently using all the inputs of your XDA-2, you may find the input limit of the Big Ego well, limited. Yes I state the obvious. But I have to point that out too.
If you only have one digital device that you stream with, the Big Ego is very good. I like it very much. As far as it being perhaps better than the XDA-2, tough call. I like the idea however the Big Ego can go where ever I go, the XDA-2, not so much. I think if you wantes to explore the posibilities, the Big Ego will not dissapoint. You will have to listen with your music and other considerations. But overall the Big Ego is very good.

I'm stuck on the 3.5mm analog connectivity even though I imagine there's no audible difference.
I've had the same thoughts about replacing my XDA-2 Gen 2 with an Ego but the RCA analog connections diffused further inclinations.

Back to back (using Airmotive 4's and Airmotive 6's) there's not a lot of difference between the XDA-2 and the Big Ego, certainly not night and day. But that said, I do prefer the Ego, it has a more "live" sound, a tiny bit more "natural" to my ears specially piano and female voice, just stunning. FWIW I use the headphone output to take advantage of the resistor ladder volume control. The big convenience is of course size, especially since I only use a stand alone DAC in my home office, so the Ego wins hands down on that score. If you only need the USB input then I'd certainly recommend an Ego. Having tied a Little Ego as well as a Big Ego, unless you need the extra outputs, I'd go the Little Ego for the same sound quality at an even more amazing price.
Cheers Gary
