First post! Im far from someone with vast amounts of Stereo knowledge but I do know what sounds good to me. I just got a pt-100 preamp,a-300 amp, and a erc-3 cd player a few weeks ago and to say Im pleased is an understatement. Ive had some decent systems in the past but nothing that puts a smile on my face like this. Even music I don't care for gets played more just to hear what I've been missing. Using klipsch rp280f speakers I was getting headaches from running the tone controls to hot I guess before I had to crank the controls on other systems to get some sparkle. Now running them flat or just a fuzz of treble I am thrilled with the sound. Im one that likes to get bang for the buck and can't see how spending thousands more could get you a lot better sound. Im not poor but between the 3 or 4 hobbies I enjoy I feel I've nailed it as far as what I was wanting sound wise for coin spent. If this equipment is still working like this 10 years from now I don't see how I could not have gotten my moneys worth. Im not going to try and explain the sound using big terms I'm just going to say this. WOW! And thanks to Emotiva for putting out a product that sounds so fine and feels so professional. Bringing great music to the masses is a great thing in my opinion. Love the pt-100 and I love it having FM. Im listening to FM right now. The cd player is out of this world.

The A-300 is the latest version of the venerable UPA-2. It morphed into the XPA-200 and UPA-200 - and now the A-300. Great amps IMO. The only one I owned was the UPA-2 for a while. They are all very good amps. Good to see you found the right amp.

Excellent! And welcome to the Lounge. My daughter just got an A-300 when she came down to visit. We bought it straight from Emotiva headquarters. We hooked it up to my bedroom system to "test it out" and I was amazed at how well the A-300 sounded.

I just got a pt-100 preamp,a-300 amp Congratulations! I was thinking about buying pt-100 and asked question on this forum but it was ignored. Maybe you can help me? As I understand pt-100 has a tone controls, bass and treble. To what extent you can push up or down these controls? Is it +/- 6dB, 8 or 10? By the way, I also have Klipsch RP-280F

I'd say it's the same version of the UPA-200 which it seems to share a lot more similarities with. The latest version of the UPA-2 would be more closely related to the XPA-200 - which is sadly no longer being sold.

I received both items and couldn't be happier. I'll start by saying that I am no audiophile and my knowledge on these things is limited but I know when music sounds great and the BasX A-300 sounds wonderful. As for the tone controls they can do +/- 10db
