I have had my new XMC-1 for less than a week and am having glitching problems with HDMI inputs 4-8 and I cannot get audio from the ARC. I usually have my DVD in HDMI 4 so I will use that as an example of what is happening. Sometimes when I first start using the DVD I get no sound and occasional flashes of grey on an otherwise black screen. If I switch it to HDMI 3 then it works. If I try another source like my PS3 i will get the same response in that it works in HDMI1,2,3 but not 4 and beyond. I have tried multiple sources and multiple cables and the constant is the XMC glitch. If it turn the XMC off and on again it fixes it sometimes; but I may need to do this 2-5 times before it will start to work.
As for the ARC it sends video to the TV just fine but does not receive sound. None the f my other sources will play sound via the ARC either. I currently have audio from my TV coming in on an optical cable. This is fine, but I would prefer that it work.
I'm a little frustrated since I got the XMC as an upgrade for a very glitchy UMC200. At this point I am still assuming I have done some merging wrong in my set up. But I can't tell what. I just ran Dirac yesterday but I don't know how that could be causing this.
I would just call customer support but being the weekend and all... just figure I would ask for tips from the collective first.
Thanks

this may or may not be helpful but when you use ARC you have to set the input on the XMC-1 to Arc from the input list. Also make sure you are on the correct ARC hdmi connection on your tv. I am using HDMI-1 out on the XMC-1 with an LG tv what tv do you have. As for the other problem I haven't anything to help with that. Are allyour cables the same brand, switching cable that are the same brand may not be helpful.

So far I'm having good luck with a new set of new HDMI cables. I had gotten new cables at the time of the XMC, but maybe they were not so good. Got anther new set with better results. Will repost if the problem recurs. For now I'm happy for a cheap fix and super happy with the XMC1.
