Hi:
The manual of the XMC-1 says the USB Stream input (#4-rear panel) is used to connect the USB digital ouput of a device, like a computer ... based- audio source ... that supports USB Audio Class 2 (UAC2),
Also, it is recommended to use a good quality commercial USB cable (no longer than 2 meters) and also, to avoid unusual "audiophile" cables that may not comply with standard USB data cable specifications.
So, I would like to connect my laptop (Dell inspiron 15 5000 series i7) to my XMC-1, to play Hi Res music (trying first time), but I don't know what USB cable type I need to do it (almost 62 years old, and no a computer...)
I could no find any Emotiva USB cable in their web page so I hope to buy a good one from Monoprice.
I just need your help to let me know what USB cable I need to get.
Thank you.

to answer 30+ year question with a modern answer unless the dac you use supports 3.5 stereo input your only option is to use toslink digital, hdmi or rca
you will introduce white noise into the hifi/ht equipment over a grounded jack to rca cable
If you have to connect a pc to hifi/or upto 7.1 either toslink or co-ax digital connection if pc audio card or onboard audio and processor supports it or use hdmi..
not sure the usb can function the way intend it too last I heard usb on back was used as an update port for firmware..
