Emotiva to Canada: duties and VAT?

If a Canadian resident buys stuff from Emotiva, what does this mean for duties an VAT? This is 30% in total for goods from USA to EU.

You know why I ask this, right? There will be no more duties from Canada to EU thanks to CETA... I spy with my little eye an opportunity. There are extra shipping costs of course.

We can't buy stuff from Emotiva directly anymore. Yep, that's correct, I tried and they refused. Have to go through one of their resellers. So at that point we no longer deal with border fees or import taxes since that is handled by the reseller and we just pay for the stuff and the shipping.

But I doubt he is allowed to sell you stuff. Pretty sure resellers have to sell within their own little slice of the continent.

Really?? Maybe I'm wrong or confused or maybe they were. But I definitely remember calling them up for a control freak and them saying "nope, contact your canadian dealer" who didn't have any in stock and couldn't get any (out of production) so couldn't sell me one. Ended up getting frustrated and buying the "level pilot" off of amazon instead

I'm not sure about Emotiva changing their policy to not ship directly to Canada. I have also had quotes from them on several things, including duties and taxes, but it has been a little while - maybe since the sale in the summer - since I have checked in on anything. The Canadian resellers are the way to go now anyway - way cheaper.

Yes it does seem to be a bit cheaper buying from an authorized Canadian distributor. Bought some emo speakers from Quebec Acoustics.
Also another dealer about 40 minutes down the highway is Fairview Hifi in Burlington.
