If you had a choice, the gen1 xpa3 for $550, or gen3 xpa3 for $900, what would you do? I do not have ANY interest in adding modules.

Gen1 and add the difference to the speaker upgrade fund. Gen3 if money isn't much of a concern (as there will be some sonic improvement).

I just bought a xpa-2 and xpa-5 gen 1 used. I wanted to go with a class a/b power supply vs the switched power supply in the gen 3. Call me old school though. Heard great reviews of the gen 3. Got a great deal though on the older stuff so went that route.

Either choice is a great one. It really comes down to what you are planning on the system in the long run. If you are not planning to increase modules, than the Gen 1 makes good sense. However, the Gen 3 leaves you options later.

Does the warranty have Any Value to you? That's part of new cost and what you sacrifice buying pre-loved.
GIII might have the edge IF you go to sell it. Somebody could buy it knowing they were going to add a module or more.
