Hi all, A friend would like to improve his Hifi/HT setup to include a separate external 2 ch preamp.
Currently he connects L/R/C from his Pioneer VSX91THX Receiver´s preout to Emo´s XPA-5 multichannel power amplifier, driving Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grand speakers.
Question is, if he gets an external tube preamp with HT bypass, would it work to connect Pioneer´s L/R preout to the preamp´s bypass, and from there to the XPA-5, and at the same time, connect the Pioneer´s C preout directly to XPA-5? So two different electronics connected to the power amp?
Is this operation supported by the amp, or it would bring connection issues?
I know another configuration would be to connect the Pioneer´s C channel speaker output directly to the Center speaker, but then it would lose the advantage of XPA´s amp quality...
Thanks!

Yes, you would connect the Front L and R pioneer preouts to the 2 channel preamp and then Preamp outs to the XPA-5, assuming it has a HT bypass function. All other channels would remain as they are.
