Hello, I realized my Yamaha RX-A550 was not driving my RBH R55ti towers, RBH R56tci nor the matching surrounds. The output is only 80 per channel but in real life I doubt it is even close to that. I ordered a MC700 and XPA-5 gen 3. That should drive these babies. Any input is welcomed.

I believe I have had the speakers for a year and I don't think I have ever heard them. I think the Yamaha is so underpowered it isn't even driving them. They need 50W to drive them and can handle up to 250W so the new amp will probably amaze me. People have told me they are great speakers but you can't prove it by me.

Your RBH towers, from the specs I just read on their website, like Hemster posted, will sing with the power that the XPA-5 can provide. I've never heard of or listened to the RBH's, but I must say if the R55Ti's sound as good as they look, I bet they sound great. Oh yeah, welcome to the Lounge from a fellow West Virginian. I grew up in St. Albans and moved to Central Florida after high school. If you have any more questions, we're here for you.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your help. I have been away from really listening to a system for 25 years. Everyone in the home watched TV and I read so I didn't pay attention. Now I'm alone I decided to get back into my old passion for sound. I didn't even know the system was weak until a month ago. I did research and bought what I think are good speakers but figured any receiver was good enough for the TV heads. They really could have cared less as long as there was sound. My research indicated Emotiva is a great bang for the buck. Can't wait until they ship.

Yes, welcome, I also grew up in St. Albans, WV and still go there weekly. I now reside in Beckley. I moved from a more powerful Yamaha reciever (120 watts measured with 2 channels driven) to my current setup (see sig). I believe you will definetly like your new gear and improvement in sound quality. Again, enjoy!
