I don't know what else to say about these two, when I got the 7, the 200 went from LR mains to the height channels, and a couple of weeks ago I decided to push the volume from 0, which was fine, to +2, everything came alive, including the sub, and I already had pushed the sound leveling on the preamp section of the Denon 4500 almost 3 decibels over the customary 0 reading, that XPA-7 is A REAL BEAST......and like I said the sub is kicking hard too (HSU VTF15 MK II)...
Any comments, anybody?

Gus, what kind of speakers are you using? Hsu for LCR, Def Tech 800s for surround and surround back, those driven by the XPA-7, JBL for the heights, I haven't got around to replace those with Def Tech 800s yet, those are driven by the XPA-200.....

I would have figured the HSU were pretty efficient being horn loaded. I can't put anything anywhere near those levels without my head exploding. Something doesn't seem to add up, at least to me.

It's not as much in your face, it just sounds the way I believe it should, in par with what's on screen.....

I think that's part of the rub.
From gus4emo:: It's not as much in your face, it just sounds the way I believe it should, in par with what's on screen.....
That's good AND bad. People have a feel for real music. You can tell because that Piano does indeed Sound like a piano.
But with movies? Anybody ever Heard a torpedo whiz by? or the stomping around of a T-Rex?
Don't get me wrong here, i LOVE movie sound. But you really don't have much to compare it to.

I'm glad you're having a good time.
I had briefly considered an XPA-5 (last version) for biamp duties on my panels. And was willing to let the 'spare' channel sit or use it to drive a 3rd, center channel.

Yep. THREE channel. Early work in multi-channel audio was heading that direction. And it addresses the same 'phantom image' problem which 5.x addresses in HT. www.audiosignal.co.uk/Resources/Three_channels_A4.pdfThere are a Bunch of articles online about 3-channel. This is one chosen nearly completely at random. Some discussion continues on the various Forums
