Just posting because I think it's a beautiful piece of gear. At $27,000 I guess it should be stunning. My car cost almost the same amount. Oh, it weighs 72 lbs!!! Product Link

Does it make toast? I don't get that ...for that price you should be able to have sex without the shock! My real question is do audio products that have such prices sound that much better than something that costs a 5th or 6th of the cost, or is does it go back to what I believe that money is a realative factor. If you have the monies to spend, spend it. However, I have heard systems with price tags of $5000.00 that sound amazing. One setup was introducing the same speakers Boom is working with now, the KEF LS50's with a tube amplifier and a SS pre-amp. They were on audition at the audio show in NYC and it sounded amazing.

8 chip dacs per channel, one toroidal transformer per circuit and 35 bit d/a converter looks impresive but i really wonder if the sound matches the price tag...

Here's how it goes. House then Truck then Speakers. If you are spending $27,000 for a CD player then it goes something more like this. Mansion's all over the globe then Fleet of Jet Airliners then Very Big Speakers. Did anyone here win the Powerball last night ?

Honestly, it looks like a wonderful example of massive over-engineering. From their website it seems like they did all sorts of elegant and expensive stuff - a lot of which won't actually affect the sound quality. (I'm not personally into silver-on-silver panels, but the build quality does look very nice.) (And, of course, if you're simply using it as a transport, any decent $200 unit will give you the exact same bits.) 8 chip dacs per channel, one toroidal transformer per circuit and 35 bit d/a converter looks impresive but i really wonder if the sound matches the price tag...

I'm sorry, but I just can't pass up commenting on their choice of a name...... www.dictionary.com/browse/grandioseGRANDIOSE [gran-dee-ohs] adjective 1. affectedly grand or important; pompous: 2. more complicated or elaborate than necessary; overblown: 3. grand in an imposing or impressive way. 4. Psychiatry. having an exaggerated belief in one's importance, sometimes reaching delusional proportions, and occurring as a common symptom of mental illnesses, as manic disorder.

But their name is "Grandioso" with an "o" at the end versus your definition for "grandiose." I'd say Grandioso means it is Oh So Grandiose. Look for their upcoming Arrogancia line, too.

I don't know this for sure yet, but I could check. One of the local places in Dayton sells this brand, and knowing them, they will have it at some point for sure (if they don't already). They had one a lot like it a few years ago when I was there. Guy said they had sold 3 of them that year.

What this REALLY is.......a classic example of beauty being in the eye (and the mind For that matter) of the beholder. From my point of view, the beauty of an audio component comes from intelligent engineering, that accomplishes the goal at a competitive price point. This thing?..... For the crowd that embraces "if it's ridiculously expensive, it has to be better,".....sure to be a hit. Bill

What is it with you guys and trucks? Do you really need a truck? I need a truck. Big ass four door luxury car with a huge trunk. It won't get stuck easily with real four wheel drive (low range transfer case and locking differential). Can ford small streams and cross logs and boulders that might be in the way. Room for me, my significant other, two big golden retrievers and all our crap when we go on trips. I can pull a five ton trailer if I need a load of gravel or whatever. Gets about twice the mileage than my dad's Ford LTD did back in 1975. I need a truck.

Bill Well, $27,000 would cover the expense of a stellar Atmos home theater setup (including stocking the bar) with a lot leftover.

Never killed a big hog myself but they have chased me up a tree many times. I been 10 feet from a big bear. Alabama Boy Kills 1,051-Pound Monster Pig, Bigger Than 'Hogzilla'
