My XMC-1 is 18 months old and so has the pre 4K pass thru hdmi board and I'm wondering: Is the 4K pass through purely just to allow a HDCP handshake between say a 4K bluray player and a 4K TV?
The reason I ask this is because I just connected my brand new LG OLED to the XMC-1 and on my HTPC it now shows 4K screen resolutions. egTthe NVIDIA Card is able to "see through" the XMC-1 and "see" the 4K TV and what screen resolutions it is capable of. So it appears that I am able to upscale my 1080P content to 4K using my PC and send it through the XMC-1 to my 4K panel.
Does this sound right?

Yes, the old HDMI board can pass 4K at a maximum of 30Hz, obviously with no HDCP 2.2.
