Hello All
I am looking for speaker recommendation for my Atmos Install.
I currently have Seaton Cat12 as my LCR and Sparks for surround. I am thinking either to go with Monitor CT-380IDC or Martin Logan EM-R. I am in the process of picking up a Gen 3 XPA 5 to power Atmos. I would appreciate any recommendations between the two.
Cheers

I think you'd find lots more info if you read some of the Atmos speaker threads over on AVS. It isn't like nobody here knows nothing about Atmos speakers but there are many more posts over there.

Hello
I will definitely be doing that, but want to see if any one has used this combination here.

I always try and match the speakers where possible, the same manufacturer is a good place to start. Then similar specs, or talk to the speaker manufacturer, tell them what you have and ask their opinion.

Hello I will definitely be doing that, but want to see if any one has used this combination here. Cheers I have no idea how many combinations of audio gear there are in the world but the chances that someone will have anything matching your setup is very low. Gary Cook has it right - try to stay within the manufacturer's models whenever possible.

I wish could do that. Currently at the price sparks are, it will set me back around $8K for 4 in ceiling speakers. My wife may not be happy with that

As far as in ceiling speakers go, the KEF's have a great reputation. Airmotion tweeters as used in the Martin Logan's are very good, but with a very narrow dispersion, which renders them useless for Atmos unless you are the single listener. You didn't write whether your wife also attends the movie watching sessions... A budget replacement for the obvious Seaton Spark XCs here: Seaton 7.2.4 Atmos 2016 ... would be the DIYSG Volt 10LX. That is if your dear wife lets you build them...

Thanks you guys.
I reached out to Mark Seaton and he may be work some thing out for me. I am waiting for him to give me a pricing and delivery time frame. My wife does watch with me and she is the best thing that happened to me. She just asked me to select an option that will keep me happy. Exact words by her after Seaton set up you have not looked to upgrade speakers so just get some thing that will keep you happy and not look to change every few years.
Cheers

I was just messing with you...
She's definitely a keeper. She's right. What's the point in investing in Seatons if you skimp on the Top speakers knowing very well you'd think about it all the time.

Reached out to Mark and he is working out a solution for me. Only thing I have to wait for this till Middle of April. I don't mind waiting for right solution. Now I have an option to buy Gen 3 XPA5 or Gen 2 XPA 7 to peer this. I am not sure which one to get.

What are you using besides the XPA-5 or XPA-7? For power, all XPA amps will be more than adequate. I have bought a used Marantz MM8005 8-channel amp for about 800€. Paired with my XPR-5 gives me the 13 channels I want. You could get a XPA-3 with an XPA-5 which gives you the 8 channels.

Then the XPA-5 will be more than enough unless you are looking for more than 7.1.4... I know there was talk about a biamp version with separate amps, but this is the basic single channel speaker, correct?

Hey Guys
Quick post. Unfortunately I was unable to get passive version sparks from Mark, but ended up getting 4 sparks that came on sale (AVS). Now my biggest challenge would be to install them as Atmos from my ceiling. My ceiling does have an attic large enough for a grown person to walk around. Let me know if any of you have managed to install a 33 pound book shelf type speaker as an in ceiling speaker.
