I would avoid the 7020 - been there done that with the UMC-1. The 7030 is a nice processor. Very flexible and very good two channel and multi-channel performance. The only thing missing is some form of auto room correction. In my case room correction is a minor irritant since the only problem in my listening space is the low frequencies - specifically in the 45-70hz where I get a house bump. It's easy to tame using the manual equalizer. I had one for about 7-8 months and enjoyed it immensely. I should have kept it - I'd have more money in my pocket if I had.
Any more I look for functionality - seems audio quality is very good with most mid and upper level AVR/AVPs. At least that has been my experience.

Just to add Dan once had a pt7030 in his system .. it has peq for all channels including the back surrounds . Surroundhound [ Roger Dressler] had these comments about the PEQ emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/529628 The osd is not see through like the 7020 so if your a set and forget person its fine ; its also a hdmi 1.4 pre pro with 2 outputs ; not 1.3 and just one output like the 7020..Heres a small review
