Does the MC-700 have any stereo downmix capability?
I really don't care for surround sound, it is not practical in my living room, nor will my wife accept it. I also only have two speakers (Paradigm Reference Studio/100 v2) and a 2-channel amp (Acurus A200).
If the MC-700 doesn't have stereo downmix what is the most affordable processor (or receiver with pre-outs) that will do two-channel downmix across all digital inputs/protocols?
Today I use an Audio Research LS-9 stereo pre-amplifier which works fine because I have previous generation Roku and Blu-Ray player that have stereo outputs. I want to upgrade the Roku and the Blu-Ray but the current generation do not have analog stereo outputs.
Thank you!

No, it only has a 7.1 out. The XMC-1 downmixes analog and digital signals to its' outputs. Not sure what others exist, but it will be a slim list.

Yep, I was waiting for my replacement center channel so I downmixed to stereo from all my sources (set mode to stereo on processor). There was mostly positive results, TRUE-HD, DTS-Master, DD, DTS all downmixed to stereo from bluray, netflix, amazon video, and network streams. Dialog was clear and centered for all but one file I was streaming.

This "(set mode to stereo on processor)" is what I thought you should be able to do and I think Emotiva should advertise this feature. Thanks for letting everyone know that you can downmix digital inputs to stereo.

It would be easier to set the Center and Surrounds to "None" in the speaker setup and it will always only play stereo.

I'm surprised you can't state which outputs are active.

I am confused. Can the MC-700 do this or not. One post says yes, one post says no.

Yes. You can set it to Stereo mode, or you can turn off all the channels so it thinks you only have L/R and will downmix everything.

While I don't have any hands-on experience with the MC-700, selecting "None" for the center and surround channels, effectively down-mixes those un-used channels to the front left and front right channels.

I think you can disregard my post. I thought you were asking about secondary outputs. Like the others said, you should just be able to configure the MC-700 primary outputs for stereo operation by indicating you don't have center/surround speakers.

I'm surprised you can't state which outputs are active. That's one difference between the umc200 and the mc700 ; the umc200 has dedicated 2ch outputs for a downmix which has lead to conclusions Otherwise thought similar just use the bass management as you imply ..
