It looks like by several reviews the T1 isn't considered a "bassy" speaker. I don't know if that means it lacks bass, but perhaps it's not its strong point. the T 2 may be better at it. One thing it may be is a lack of a gutsy amp. I found some amps do better at bass than others. For instance the XPA-2 gen 2 and XPA-1 gen 2 do better at bass than my UPA-2 and the XPA-5 in my setup.

Thinking about purchasing either the T1s or a pair of the ELAC floorstanders. Hey T1 owners. How are you liking the T1 speakers. More interested more in SQ than looks. There is just so little out there on these speakers. Thanks!! So I pulled the trigger on the T1-5-channel bundle for my small playroom on a whim as soon as they were announced (for the price I didn't think I could go wrong and I was right :-). I already own Airmotiv4 and Airmotiv6's so was already sold on the tweeter used and the quality of Emotiva speakers. I absolutely *love* them ! I have demoed them to a couple of friends, one of whom went out and bought the same setup the next day :-). The other one (a self-professed audiophile snob :-) guessed I'd paid 3x the cost for the setup. When I showed him the price on the ad. his comment was "this is an amazing setup for that price." It's the detail and imaging for me. I also own a pair of GoldenEar Triton Ones and they go much lower, but the detail and imaging are close between the T1's and Triton Ones. In a test I would probably say the Tritons have the edge (although I can't be sure of that - no way to do a blind test) but they're not *five* times better :-). I am running them with a sub., although not (yet) an Emotiva one. I was an early purchaser of the Airmotiv S12 sub and got burned by the hum issue and ended up returning it due to the wait for a replacement. Now it's fixed I may try again. But I'm not sure I *need* the sub :-). Running just 2-channel through the T1's is good enough for most of my music. OK, an update on my T1 system. I did splurge on the sub (a BasX S10), and ended up replacing the receiver I was using to drive them - a Pioneer SC-1222K which isn't a bad receiver by any means. I got a second hand XMC-1 and paired it with a BasX A-500 amp. Oh. My. God ! If you haven't heard the T1's paired with an XMC-1 please do so at your earliest opportunity ! They sound better than I originally thought. I only just got the XMC-1 set up in that room so I'm planning to do a lot more listening (I haven't gotten the Dirac set up yet like I have with the Goldenears), but I'm now thinking with the sub in play they are on-par with the Goldenears (which have built-in subs) - now I'm driving both of them with the identical XMC-1's. *Highly* recommended !

Oh yeah, and replacing the Pioneer with the XMC-1 got rid of the hum I was getting between the receiver and sub with LFE set to MAX on the BasX S10. Damn the XMC-1 is a well-made product (I have three of them now :-).

Btw....if you haven't done so already.....do spend the extra cash for a second sub - even if the volume you get from the first one is more than enough. You'll be pretty shocked!

Adding the S10 gives as added 'punch' to the T1 bass. Once I changed to the XMC-1 I had to turn down the S10 volume dial from where I had it set with the Pioneer, it was giving too much low end. I haven't listened enough to music with a lot of bass yet, and I mostly use this system for music not movies. When I have a little more time I'm planning to listen to the 2001 soundtrack and 'Fanfare for the Common Man' and some Peter Gabriel to really give it a work out. I really like the S10 though. No 'flabbyness' I used to get with the old sub. I don't have room for another S10 though, much though I'd love to try it I'm space constrained (hmm, but maybe if I move some furniture and run a really long cable...). Stop giving me more ideas dammit ! :-).

The soundstage of everything (not just the bass) improves. My friend has dual subs and when he got them dialed in....it was nuts! There was this upper bass/ low mid instrument that pretty much moved all around the living room, during a song. Not just left and right but it came forward towards me, away....literally walking around IN the living room around the couch while all kinds of instruments played behind it.

We finished final voicing of the T2 towers yesterday, and they offer the same tonality as the T1 towers but we were able to do the crossover topology a little differently/better and I think there is a shade more openness and detail on offer, plus the deeper bass as you'd expect. Should you get rid of your T1 towers and buy T2s? Well, that depends. If you really need a bigger/louder speaker for a high level home theater, or your system doesn't incorporate a subwoofer, but you want bigger bass, then the T2 is what you want. If you're happy with what the T1 speakers give you, the upgrade to the T2 towers might not be necessary. Of course either speaker is an incredible value, and the T1s have received multiple reviewer accolades, so we have made great efforts to make sure the same sonic signature was evident in the T2. The T2 might be a little "too much" speaker in small rooms or rooms where you have to listen from less than 6-8 feet from the speakers, and the T1 will give you a little bit better integration in that limited distance, and plenty of bass in most smaller rooms (although the T2 plays noticeably deeper). I have a very narrow theater room, how would one go about determining if a loudspeaker is "too much" for their room? Boomy? Bad imaging? Some sort of a room calculators? I've been considering the T2 for a long time but have wondered if I might get a better sound from smaller speakers, going the "less is more" route. My room is 8.6 wide x 18 long. I'm currently using Polk Rti A9 's as fronts and matching series for the rest of the 5 channels. I have never loved the imaging but this could just be the narrowness of my room coming into play. I'm also looking at buying an acoustically transparent screen and would need a 3rd tower as my center channel but notice they are only sold in pairs. How would someone buy a single tower? Any feedback is much appreciated Several good and understandable room mode calculators available online. Room setup is KEY in any endeavor like this and it's difficult to simply 'tell' you what to do. I'd start at the CARDAS site and read thru the room setup section. Just for giggles, how TALL is the room? Close to the width dimension may be a problem. If you're looking for a center channel speaker, make sure it is an acoustic match for the rest. Just getting what you want may end up with easily identifiable center or fronts. Not a good idea. Also? Before junking out what you now own, DO go thru a room setup routine. Poor imaging may be the result of poor setup. Too many compromises and you end up with a mush. www.cardas.com/room_setup_main.phpThis is where I recommend you START. Setup the fronts as a good stereo and than follow thru the self-help routine. I'd further recommend send the WIFE to the movies (toss in Lunch) while you disasterize the listening room.

my buddy chip and I both find them exceptional. I just ordered and received a pair today to use as a side surround speaker. they will replace my B-1s. I think I might use the T-0s for the back. gonna play with them as my mains in stereo once I get home this afternoon. here is chip with his. we spent the entire weekend listening to them at my house and his. blown away by performance of a close-out item for only $498. tchaik...................

Back from the grave. My music collection has indeed been resurrected. Current set up includes a 9050 Onkyo as preamp, onkyo 6 disc changer and iPod hub with a Polk 10 inch sub. TheT1’s are replacing klisch r 26. I can listen to the music instead of hearing it if you know what I mean. Btw I’m using Emotiva’s a-300. Granted the r26 are not the rp line which I did not realize at the time. I also have a pair of rb 61 2 which have the titanium tweeters and difference in the high frequency is discernible better. The actual overall presentation of the rb ‘s is better. I was not completely disappointed with the r26 but they are fatiguing. The t1 ‘s are indeed non fatiguing the sound stage is open, highs are great and the bass full and tight. Well 2 days in no buyers remorse and pleasantly satisfied.

I agree with pedrocols on the sound of the T-1s. after working with my friend chip and his pair I bought some for myself to use as side surrounds. just set them up for r/l stereo playing w/o a sub. great bass extension for such a tiny speaker. here is a pic of my temporary set-up. tchaik...........
