Someone online gave me the idea of buy a Preamp with XLR out (such as XMC-1) and using powered monitors like the Stealth 8 for fronts and Airmotiv 6s for surrounds. This would obviously negate the need for an Amp. Anyways I was wondering if I want to have 7.2.4 if someone knew of any Ceiling speakers that are self powered and would work for that scenario? I may be crazy doing that though.
Any ideas?

Interesting. I cannot seem to find any info on prices or any photos of the connections. Thanks though. My other option would be somehow ceiling mounting four Airmotiv 4s pointing downwards for the height channels. Or I could just be like a normal person and get an Amp and normal HT speakers. |

Something else I thought of is the upcoming XMC-2 or the XMC-1 with Atmos/DTS-X and hooking up 3 Stealth 8 Powered speakers for front channels, and Airmotiv 6s for the surrounds while getting BasX A-500 for the height channels and just using some other Ceiling mounted speakers.

I would not consider putting amplified speakers inside either wall spaces or ceiling due to increased risk of fire hazard in an out-of-sight installation.
