Stoked to see all the goodies but much of my interest at the Emo booth lies with hearing T2s and subs. Scott

I wonder what the difference will be between the ERC-3 and the BaseX CD-100 (besides price)?

I wonder what the difference will be between the ERC-3 and the BaseX CD-100 (besides price)? Looks to be about half the size of the ERC, but the drawer and what have you look very similar.

That was the only difference that I saw as well. I'm sure something has to be different because of the lower price. It can't all be in the chassis.

If you have been following the ERC CD players you know they are built to high specs with each separate process getting its own power supply and shielding. The drive in the ERC is a DVD dive and powerful laser to go with it. I can play CD's in my ERC that no other CD player would be able to play because of the high speed and penetration of the laser.
Lets wait and see if the BasX CD player uses the same or another good drive and how many power supplies and what kind of shielding. If they get the BasX CD player to sound even close to the ECR then it will be a winner. The ERC is one of the best CD players out there regardless of price and if Emotiva can build one good CD player they can build another. Emotiva is good at doing it and still able to sell for real prices. I hope they put everyone out of business that charge big bucks for this caliber gear and all those that sell at real prices become the big boys.

Here is the deal for me. I still play CD's. Maybe not every day but a couple times a week I play CD's on my ERC/USP/UPA system. I want a Emotiva CD drive to go with the DC-1. Same size so it can it can be a DC-1 Stealth stack just like this BasX gear is. I do not think that will happen but it would be cool for me. Just be a drive with no DAC and just digital out. You could use it with any DAC.

No doubt it's an awesome piece, just not in the market for any pre/pros for the near future. XMC-1 is getting it done in my theater already. I am looking to redo the speakers in the theater as well as subs. So far I'm liking what I've heard from JTR, HSU and Seaton. Already have a Seaton Submersive in the HT rig. Scott

I wonder what the difference will be between the ERC-3 and the BaseX CD-100 (besides price)? From a photo of the back in another thread, the CD-100 doesn't have the balanced outputs.

You could use it with any DAC. I'm in. I was one of the people who wanted that proposed "executive" unit years ago. I want it for my bedroom. Only other competition is the Marantz unit, which is awesome except it reportedly doesn't do the Wifi very well. That's the only reason I haven't bought one. www.us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=WirelessMusicSystems&SubCatId=0&ProductId=MCR611Unreliable internet connectivity reviews, the lack of a volume "knob," and perhaps the price (but it does do a lot for the price). Otherwise this thing is basically in a class of it's own. Or at least it was the last time I checked. EDIT: Well, maybe not. Just did a very quick check. Perhaps I need to do some more research now in 2017. usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/hifi-systems/crx-n560/?mode=model

Scott Scott, I think you'll be hard pressed to find anything in the caliber of Seaton Sound for the remaining of your speakers (if that's what you are talking about). They consistently put one one of the most impressive demos year after year and Mark Seaton is a cool guy to boot. Seaton also makes their speakers passive as well so you don't have to run additional breakers to power everything. With regard to the subs, you should also take a listen to the SVS 16-Ultra if you are going to the show. We just installed one in my own personal theater and has been one of the best investments to date. I would easily say on par with Seaton and JTR, but more control. I think we will be curious as to your impressions of the T2s and S15, since there doesn't seem to be any way to listen to these things outside of a show or flying out to Nashville. Have fun at Axpona.
