I went to create some new Dirac filters today and I cant seem to get the Dirac app to recognize my XMC1. I don't have ethernet access to my XMC so Ive been using a wifi bridge (Linksys re1000) with ethernet output for the past few years. I leave the ethernet cable connected to the XMC and when I need to connect to Dirac I plug the extender in and then remove it when Im done. Last time I used it was a year ago and I cant think of anything thats changed since then regarding my network. It always worked fine in the past, but this time I couldn't get it to connect. The extender is connected to my wifi network and the internet (I tested it on other devices), but when I connect it to the XMC I get nothing, the extender doesn't pick it up as a client. The ethernet light on the extender lights up when I connect it to the XMC, so its getting a physical connection.
I have the XMC1 DHCP function enabled. The XMC shows the same IP address at the extender. My network uses WPA2 personal security. The router is an apple Airport.
I updated the extender to the most recent FW today and downloaded the most recent versions of Dirac for my computer. My XMC is on FW 3.1a, I haven't tried updating the XMC to FW 4.0 but as far as I can tell 4.0 didn't change anything network related.
Ive tried power cycling the XMC as well as my router, modem, computer, etc...
Any suggestions?

Update: I did a factory reset and reconfigured my extender and it is now recognizing the XMC as an ethernet client and assigning it an IP address but Dirac still cannot connect to it.

Is it getting an ip address that is similar to all your other devices. Always make sure you have the correct subnet and dns. I prefer using static ip address's even though my router is dhcp and i use google dns 8.8.8.8 secondary 8.8.4.4
I use the XMC app someone on the forum wrote to find the XMC when i am having network issues. I have multiple switch's connected to my router and the one for my entertainment center sometimes loses its mind. I move my cat5's around and it all starts working again. I have had some weird things happen over the years and one time i had to reset my main router when my AVR would not do internet radio yet all my other devices were working fine. I actually bought another AVR becasue i thought i was going to have to warranty the denon. There are gremlins everywhere lol

Im not sure what to look for with the subnet and dns.

Alright I'm completely at a loss. I installed FW 4.0 and it didn't make a difference. I can ping the XMC, my wifi extender and my laptop, no problem. I can control the XMC via the iOS app, but Dirac still cant find it??? What am I missing? I have one last thing to try and thats downloading Dirac to a different computer and trying that.

Wow that did it. Unfortunately I cant very well use my desktop to run Dirac as its 2 floors away. Im going to try and re download Dirac on my laptop and see if that does the trick.

This just gets weirder and weirder. I tried it on 2 different MacBooks, neither could connect. Yet my desktop mac connects fine. All running the same OS. Now I need to lug my desktop down to the basement Any thoughts on what would cause this behavior? All the macs are about the same age and running the same OS. Im thinking maybe default security or network settings are different on the laptops and that the problem? Any networking wiz's here? Oh the joy of computers.

That is truly a strange situation. I am no help since i dont even speak windows fluently let alone a furin language like Mac. Last nite after replying i tried to connect to my XMC-1 with the desktop app and it wouldnt connect i spent 40 minutes messing around then i remembered i put 4.0 on a few weeks ago which seems to have broken the desktop app. Anyway maybe just bring up the network setting on the laptop and compare to the desktop and also turn off any antivirus that may be running.

There are a couple of possibilities I can think of..... For one thing, the XMC-1 and the computer have to be on the same network segment - or the router has to be set up in a specific way. So, if your laptop is using WiFi, and it's connecting to a different router than the XMC-1, then that could be the problem. It's also possible that, even if they are on the same router, the WiFi and regular network routes may not be "connected together" in the router. (So, if the desktop machine is connected with a cable, try connecting the laptop to the same router as the XMC-1 with a cable and it may work.) We've also been having network problems with some Apple computers running Sierra (only some). So, even if the computer that works is running Sierra, it's still possible that another one won't; unfortunately, our programmers are still working to isolate and fix that problem. This just gets weirder and weirder. I tried it on 2 different MacBooks, neither could connect. Yet my desktop mac connects fine. All running the same OS.
