Greetings! Ive got a Marantz SR-6010 receiver with Klipsch RP-280's, a 450 center and 2 sw-115 subs. The surrounds and backs are Mordaunt-Short Carnivals. The mains are bi-wired.
Will The A-700 amplifier (80 watts x 7 at 8 ohms, 110 watts x2 into 8ohms) outperform my receivers built in amplification?
SR-6010 amp claim is 110 watts x 7 into 8 ohms with all channels driven.
thanks very much.

I am kinda concern also I bought the MC-700 and A-700 which will replace my Denon 4520ic. Won't be here until 4/25 hoping that is comparable.

Do you have everything else 2.2 as well? If the plug the chromecast into Denon I can get 4K and if I plug it into the tv I get 4K but only 2.0 sound.

Concern because of the wattage differences between the denon and a-700. [b Are you comparing the Denon 2 channels driven with the Emotiva all channels driven? I will be running 7 channels. Sound and Vision ran a test on the Denon: Seven channels driven continuously into 8-ohm loads: 0.1% distortion at 108.8 watts 1% distortion at 121.7 watts Read more at www.soundandvision.com/content/denon-avr-4520ci-av-receiver-test-bench#Xwls6DkF5bx2pFcr.99I am not sure how the A-700 will compare

A lot of AVRs get unnecessary hate. A good few of them end up testing pretty well like you've shown. 110 watts 7 channels driven is very commendable. That said, I really wouldn't worry about the wattage difference here. The A-700 will do 80 watts all channels driven at lower distortion numbers (not saying it'll be audible). The difference between 80 watts and 110 is nothing anyway, literally like 1.5db.

Hey beardedalbatross, I also have a Denon AVR-4520 and I am looking to swap it out with a mid-range AVR with a Emotive AMP. Either the A-5175 or the Gen 3. I don't have massive speakers to drive but I only want to buy an AMP once. My speakers are: L&R - Bowers and Wilkins 685, Center - Bowers and Wilkins HTM62. I am very tired of replacing $2,000-$3,000 receivers every time they enhance HDMI. So my plan is to get a Denon AVR-X4300H and a Emotive AMP and upgrade the AVR when necessary for $700 - $1,000. Also, my current Denon 4520 just doesn't have the oomph that my old Denon 4800 did. Not surprisingly it is also 10 pounds lighter. How does the BasX A-700 compare to the amps in your Denon AVR-4520?Dan
