Does look fantastic. Wish I could justify the expense. Too many other things I want to buy. I'm planning on ordering the 203 later this week and putting my 103 up for sale.
Hopefully I won't regret it.

Darn it. I thought the good new was that it was free.

Hopefully I won't regret it. Same here, that is quite some money. Plus the AKG DAC have quite respectable performances. I doubt I will ever buy a 205, but I see a 203 in my future. Another step toward 4k, I recently upgraded my old Roku to the Roku Premier+ and I am observing with great interest the prices of OLED TVs in the 50" size range.

So I couldn't see a summary of the differences between the UHD-203 and the upcoming UHD-205. I did note the Balanced Stereo out, but I'm planning on using the DACs in the RMC-1 so that doesn't affect me.

I had the 105 and then sold it to get the 103 once I got my XMC-1. Really no need for the 205 if you are going straight pass through and decoding on the pre/pro side. I would rather put the money into a better DAC like the RMC-1. The thing that irks me is that in addition to removing the streaming services from the menu, they did nothing to upgrade the jukebox features to display the movie library when playing off of a NAS.

I just received the 205 to replace the 105. Running with XMC-1 and HDMI. Exact set up as 105. EMO mono's and Mac Amps. Legacy Whispers and Marquis. The music sounds awful. I have tried everything except switching to analog and rca cables which I know many people like. I was happy with 105 and HDMI. I listened to multiple artists in hi res on a usb stick and then multiple high quality recorded cd's. Best I can describe is it sounds like a very detailed and clear transistor radio (probably a bit dramatic) but not depth or breadth. My wife even went ewwww. So what say you experts? Thanks for your advice. Greg

Thanks for your advice. Greg I was using the 105 with my Whispers through the Wavelet via spdif. Sold them and got the Aeris with Wavelet and it still sounds great. Not sure on the 205 as I use that in the theater. When I fet home I'll bring the 205 upstairs to try on the Aeris to see what results I get. Are you running the newer AMT tweet with your Whispers? Are you using the Wavelet? They are very revealing and that may be an issue. Gain may also be hotter on the 205 and that will make the Whispers sound very grainy/thin. Scott

I thought that the only reason to get the Oppo UDP-205 was if you planned on using its DACs. If you're going to route Digital out of the Oppo to your own DAC, what's the point of the extra expense of the UDP-205?
