Has anyone seen this listing on ebay? The seller's story doesn't make much sense considering this amplifier comes with a 5 year warranty. Why wouldn't Emotiva fix it unless some shenanigans on the buyer's end came up? I have bought a few things from Emotiva in the past and only had to warranty one of my amps. I never had an issue with warranty but this was a long time ago. Is Emotiva still standing behind their products like they use too or have things changed? I would like to try out a new XPR amplifier, but kind of reluctant after see that listing if the warranty is worthless. I think there is more to the seller's story that he isn't sharing...but want to be sure. Any feedback? Thanks

www.ebay.com/itm/Emotiva-XPR-5-Reference-Amplifier-Not-working-/132158663074?hash=item1ec54529a2:g:r6oAAOSwxKtYA7qqI guess it's that one. Well Emotiva requires the warranty be properly transferred which means the original owner has to transfer the ownership to the new owner and so on. When this is not done, then the warranty is not transferred and is invalid. Also if a product has been abused in some way (consumer caused damage) they are not required to honor it. Now the XPR amps are out of production so Emotiva may not have the spare parts but they are obligated to provide service - as long as the warranty is valid. Since the seller warns the warranty may not apply to this one, I wouldn't touch it.

Something else to consider, emotiva keeps track of the serial numbers of the "lost" products in shipping.

I see one of three reasons:
1. The listing never said it was purchased new. The seller may not even be the original owner and never had the warranty transferred. No warranty transfer = no service from Emotiva. 2. It is one of those grey market items that Emotiva has disavowed. 3. The seller is the original owner but issue with the amp was due to misuse and not product failure. Emotiva can fix defective parts but they can't fix stupid.
Since the seller's wife purchased it in July 2016 and the XPR amps were discontinued in 2015, I'm inclined to go with #1. Seller not knowing if there is any warranty left would substantiate this as well. If it was new, there would be a record (even if just the manual) of the warranty.

There is a chance that the owner didn't want to pay for shipping costs on that beast to send it to Emotiva to get fixed. To me that seems silly since the increase in selling price for a working amp over a non-working unit would out weigh the shipping costs. My $.02 anyway...

This amp is semi-local to me, and I saw it on Craigslist with the same story. If the seller is a scammer, I doubt he would volunteer that Emotiva declined to repair it.

Now the XPR amps are out of production so Emotiva may not have the spare parts but they are obligated to provide service - as long as the warranty is valid. Since the seller warns the warranty may not apply to this one, I wouldn't touch it. Last September/October Emotiva replaced the middle amp module(#3) in my XPR-5, so I highly doubt it's because of not having available parts, not to mention both my XPR-5 and XPR-2 are still under warranty.

Also it's very costly for an amp that doesn't work!

Now that I've looked at the for sale link, this XPR-5 has been on eBay for at least 4 or 5 months, and I remember thinking then there are tooooo many open questions that aren't disclosed.

Emotiva also tracks stolen goods. As stated before, run away from this one. Must have been disavowed for some reason.
