I have a problem that is most likely going to cause me to sell my amp. The phase is reversed on all 7 speakers I have hooked it up to. That is according to YPAO in my Yamaha CX-A5100 pre-pro. My Berhinger inuke NU4-6000 does not come up with the out of phase error when used for my front three in place of the Emotiva. Just to see what was going on I hooked up my center channel to the XPA7 and used RCA. Voila it is now detected as in phase. So the problem lies with the XLR connections on the XPA7. I know they are not fully balanced but some how they are causing a phase shift. Anybody else with this issue?

I don't think there's an actual problem. Lots of RC systems report things as out of phase.

If it's the same on all speakers, just reverse your wires and it should be alright.

Huh, odd. Have you contacted Emotiva Customer Support on this issue? It seems ... "unlikely" ... Something like what you describe would require that some element of the XLR chain got the Signal and Inverted Signal wires swapped. This issue could appear at the source (the preprocessor), the XLR cables themselves or the sink (the amplifier). I assume that you've already tried a different brand of XLR cable? Weird, weird, weird ...

Almost everyone can hear RELATIVE phse, when one speaker in a stereo is wired oppostite the other. Swapping one pair of wires + to- makes such changes easy to hear.
Almost No-one can hear ABSOLUTE phase. I don't even know that standards exist in the recording industry. It is also likely that in a movie soundtrack, parts will be 'in' and other parts 'out' of phase, even in the same stretch of effect.
Can you HEAR the difference? Why is it a problem?
