Been saving my pennies and sold my Marantz CD 5005 CD player and looks like tomorrow I order my PT-100. Hope it sounds as good everyone says it does. Looks like I also will be selling my XDA-2 Gen 1 after I get the PT-100. So excited ! Matt

What are your thoughts on the PT-100? I recently purchased the PT-100. It replaced my XDA-1. I find that the DAC and SQ is very good. I have it feeding the UPA-2 amp.

I thought the PT-100 was an awesome value. The DAC is super, and it's a solid product.

The PT-100 is better than the XDA-2.

The PT-100 is better than the XDA-2. Can you run two subs out of the unbalanced RCA's while running two amps out of the balanced?....then it is not better...

But it's about the sound quality! Guys, this seems to be a NEED/WANT thing! Better or not is in the eyes of the beholder my friends. For my purpose its better as I don't need that many subs. The sound is quite astonishing for its price point. Its also a very versatile with many inputs including a phono preamp. It all comes down to Needs and Wants. Enjoy the music y'all! ππΆπΆπΆπΆπΆπΆπΆπΆπΆπΆ

But it's about the sound quality! All I know is that I spoke with tech support and they told me the PT would be a parallel move at best. Sound wise they figured they were on par with each other. As far as phono input and analog inputs, I have no need. I do run two subs with a set up, so that is important to me. You say potato and I say potato.....hey, wait a minute!

You say potato and I say potato.....hey, wait a minute! Everyone has there own opinion and if you need two subs than stick with the XDA-2. I have owned both and the PT-100 is the better in SQ in my opinion. YMMV, but I loved my XDA-2 and fully expected the PT-100 at best to be the equal or a little bit less in SQ. I was pleasantly surprised that it made my family room system sound better than I have ever heard out of it. My DIY Tango speakers have aluminum drivers and can sometimes sound a little harsh with some recordings. The PT-100 smoothed out the harshness on the high end of these recordings with out losing the crispness that I look for in a tweeter. Hope this helps. I also own a XSP-1 Gen 1 and the PT-100 is not as good as it, but it is remarkably close. Hard to believe that it costs only $299. Matt

I was able to compare the PT-100 with the XDA-1 and an Maverick d1 plus. All three sound amazing but I prefer the PT-100.

PT-100 has one of the worst remote controls I have ever seen. I mean its terrible and really takes away from the experience of using it and cheapens the whole experience, imo. That's just me and I know others will disagree and say "just get a universal remote"... I don't want to use a universal remote. I also think it needs more inputs personally. I have a PT-100 and think it sounds great but its currently on my shelf as I got a screaming deal on a Marantz pre-amp with HDMI as well. FYI - I would have paid $50-75 more for a better remote or an upgraded remote.

kybourbon, couldn't you buy a universal remote for $50-$75 and place an Emotiva sticker on it?

I use the Harmony Hub, it allows me to power on/off and control the PT-100 with my phone or remote. He is right about the remote that comes with the preamp, the menu system is tough to guide through. A big difference from the remote that comes with the XDA-1 and 2.

kybourbon , couldn't you buy a universal remote for $50-$75 and place an Emotiva sticker on it? Sure. But I shouldn't have to do that.... as I said make a $350 version with upgraded remote if you are going to have something that small and cheap looking which is a complete juxtaposition to the rest of Emotiva's great looking equipment. I don't mind it being small. But it just feels cheap. Again, this is just my opinion and I understand that others disagree.

I get what you're saying and at first I wasn't thrilled with it but then As with all my OEM gear, the remote ends up stored and I use a single remote or Alexa to operate my gear.
